Does that sound about right for a brownstone basement? Also, is asbestos removal absolutely necessary -- either for health reasons or for legal reasons? It seems that we are all exposed to asbestos at some point due its widespread past use. Is there a minimum amount that is not harmful, or is any amount bad? Finally, I was thinking about getting a do-it-yourself home asbestos testing kit to do the test myself. Has anyone had any experience with these kits -- do they work? I found this kit online -- http://www.prolabinc.com/products.asp?kit=asbestos and it seems to be a reputable company that is affiliated with NEHA (The National Environmental Health Association) and ASHI (The American Society of Home Inspectors). Or would I be better off in getting a licensed professional home inspector to perform the test? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
