looking for wood furniture repair

hi! i've got an old paul mccobb drop leaf table that is falling apart. the undercarriage keeps giving way, leading to domestic near-disasters. i've tried to refill the spent screw holes with wiid glue and matchsticks, and it still gave way when my (teeny) daughter set the table tonight. anyone got any ideas for me to improve my admittedly lame home repair? how about a referral for anyone in brooklyn that could do a real-life repair for me?
