I've read about your project with great interest. We find ourselves on the mirror side of it in some respects. We have a small garden space in Manhattan. About 8 years ago, I planted a running bamboo that has thrived. It's about 25-30 feet now. It is planted in a bed surrounded by retaining walls and all has been fine until recently. The bamboo is now appearing in an unwanted area and clearly, the clever bamboo found an underground breach in the concrete and made its way to another area. We have to remove our bamboo and it will also require removing a retaining wall to get at it completely.

All this to say -- you seem very happy with the team helping you bring your vision to reality. We need to do the reverse of your project and want to find an expert at removing an established bamboo which most likely will involve demo-ing the retaining wall to get at the roots completely without doing any possible structural damage. Would you recommend any of the folks you've worked with? If they come into Manhattan, we'd welcome hearing about them. We need the kind of warm can-do problem solving I've seen here on Brownstoner.com. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you! Best, Amy
