Old computers?

Does anyone know anywhere in Brooklyn to donate old computers? One is an I-Mac that works, but only is set up for dial up, the others could be repaired or used for parts.

Amana quiet cool air conditioner available-$40, moving

Air conditioner is several years old, but works well. It is the appropriate size to cool a bedroom. We're moving on Sunday, so the buyer must pick up on Saturday, walk it down 2 flights of stairs, and get it home. We also have a used electric dryer and washer available for the same price. Call me at (347) 563-8700.

Inexpensive Ceaserstone

We are looking for names of Ceaserstone counter fabricators. We had heard that it was the same cost to do quartz as granite and marble but so far the estimates are higher. Any recommedations would be appreciated.

european style non-custom cabinets

Does anyone know where I can find full-overlay (european) style cabinets that are not custom? I like the style of ikea, but have heard negative things about their quality; I've been advised to buy kraftmaid cabinets with upgraded plywood boxes, but don't much like the look of them, and have read that their Venecia line is available only with particle board interiors. I've thought about buying doors and boxes separately. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

countertop sources in new york

Does anyone have recommendations for relatively inexpensive sources for corian and granite countertops in the new york/brooklyn area? Also, I'm interested in places that sell recycled materials. I know about Green Demolitions. Are there others? Thanks.

sliding doors

Does anyone have recommendations for a good source for sliding glass doors to partition rooms in a loft?

Try Matt Viederman. He just finished our loft in Willimsburg which we love, and spent many years working in Paris. His e-mail is mv@kv-arch.com, and you could also email me at lanewman@vassar.edu.

Brooklyn plumbing supply on Flatbush was great- got us Toto toilet and sinks at good prices, fast.

We used Benjamin Moore Opalescent on the walls and a cooler white- I think called Ice White on the ceiling-love it.

There's so much misinformation here! The zoning amendment's purpose is to support 5 or 6 story buildings in the neighborhood, not huge towers that will block out people's light and overwhelm the already overburdened infrastructure. I am a propery owner for 23 years in this neighborhood and want a nice place for my family, not just a chance at cashing in on selling out to a developer.

Toto toilets are the best.

If you're looking for mid to higher end:

Blackman
Davis & Warshow
NYKB
AF Supply
Lefroy Brooks
Dornbracht
Waterworks
Artistic Tile
Ann sacks
Walker Zanger

They all have websites. Google.

To add a comment to the above list, whenever I have used Blackman they have been a nightmare. Orders screwed up, poor communication, really an unprofessional staff. If you are spending on that level, A+F supply is much better.

We just completed a mini-reno of our bathroom. For tile, I recommend Cancos Tile on 21st bet 5th & 6th in Manhattan. I second the Toto recommendation. We kept our pedestal sink and tub so can't help there, but all our showe, sink and wall trim/hardware came from various online sources (faucetdepot.com, hardwareaccents.com, etc).

I really like Bella Tile in Manhattan (East Village). They have a good selection from basic stuff to pretty high end and the staff is very helpful. I think their prices are really good too.

There is a great lil tile store on 9th Street Bet. 5th & 6h Avenue in Park Slope Bklym, I dont know the name of the place, but they give you personal attention & they have a great variety. If you go there speak to Cathy, she will help you out.

The place mentioned above is A&K Tile Studio.

I shopped for everything I needed online(mostly at fixtureuniverse.com) than contacted Decoware (www.decow.com) in Brooklyn. They beat every price I found and were quite easy to work with. We ordered a Toto dual flush toilet, Duravit tub and sinks, Kohler shower, Grohe faucet. I'd highly recommend them. Several of my friends have had good experiences with them as well.

I recently bought some tile from Classic Tile & Marble in Bay Ridge (1635 86th St). Not the greatest selection, but good prices and they had some really beautiful stuff on sale.

Another good place for all types of tile is Nemo Tile. Not the best service but good selection and display of various options.

I had such a good experience with my tile at Home and Stone on Coney Island Ave, that I went back for some hardware. Jerry in the tile dept. helped a lot with design and tile choices. Prices are not cheap. But, it was definitely discounted from top end anywhere else.

Please feel free to contact me either by e-mail or by phone 718 624 1700.

Also - Perla Delson is great.
