I ADORE Greenpoint. I'm here because I have many friends in Williamsburg/Greenpoint but I get to breathe and mix with a very interesting, mellow crowd up here. Franklin street has such a lovely, old-town vibe and I hope it doesn't change too much. Having said that, I'd LOVE to buy a condo, or better yet, a townhouse here someday myself, and we'll see which buyers I start bringing up there to view the new developments (yes, I'm a realtor myself). I think the people who will buy will really appreciate the neighborhood. I don't think they'll be coming here because it's a cheaper alternative to Williamsburg. My 30-something friends planning/having families are the ones who especially love Greenpoint. And yes, the Polish residents are not going anywhere anytime soon, no matter what their house is worth now, so I think that will help keep the neighborhood grounded.
