Anyone looking for (prewar) radiators?
We recently removed the boiler from our building and installed electric heating so we now have four floors worth of charming old radiators we no longer need. The radiators are in great condition, original to our 1930 building, fully working, unpainted, and need a new home. I hate to see them thrown away. They are all shapes and sizes. If you are in the market for one radiator or several and can come pick them up in South Slope, we are willing to part with them for $25/$50 a piece (negotiable). We would like to have them out by the end of the week. If you are interested, please reply to this post and I will give you my contact info.

Anybody selling an exterior door?
We need to replace the hideous entryway door of our building and have seen nothing decent at Home Depot/Lowes, etc. We would like something which looks somewhat appropriate to the period in which our building was constructed (1930). Ideally, we'd like a wood door or a set of two doors which contain some type of a glass panel. Since we are redoing/rebricking the entire front of the building, the door/doors can be pretty much any dimension. Also, the condition is not important as long as there are no chunks missing out of the door or any major cracks or rotting in the wood. If you are selling something like this, please comment and I will give you my contact info. Thanks!!

Wooden trash bins?
Does anyone know where I can purchase a wooden bin for neatly storing garbage cans outside? I'd like something similar to the ones in this picture (although it does not need to be as fancy).

Interior Pocket Shutters
Can anyone recommend a good source for new-not salvaged historically accurate brownstone-style interior shutters (the kind which have a combination of louvered and solid panels-see photo)? Much thanks!!

Madness on Fourth Avenue
Does anyone know anything about a supposed police bust of an illegal boarding house on 4th Ave. between 23rd and 24th Street? Rumor has it there were 45 or more people living in the building obviously illegaly and were ordered to vacate immediately. Does anyone know anything about this?

Bathroom Vanities, etc.
Can anyone recommend a good place to shop for bathroom vanities, medicine cabinets, etc. besides Home Depot or Lowes? We are renovating a rental unit in our building and want to install something which is nice looking, durable, but not super expensive. Not thrilled with the selection from Home Depot or Lowes. Any thoughts much appreciated!

A good place to find a nice outdoor light fixture...
Can anyone reccomend a store where I can find a good quality, simple/slightly rustic exterior light fixture for my backyard? I'd like to find a store that offers higher end products than what you'd find at Home Depot or Lowes. I already tried Gracious Home and their entire exterior lighting selection consists of about four styles-all a little too Arts & Crafts era for my taste. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Wire Madness-HELP!!
I am ready to start the project of having the back of my building sealed but before I can move forward, I need to deal with the jumbled mess of wires strung along and basically mashed up against large sections of the back wall. Some of the wires appear to be old cable wires which are not connected to anything. The others may be electrical or god knows what-some connected, some not. My question is, who do I call to organize/clean up/create some type of orderly system for these wires so that I can address the sealing project and so that I don't have to look at this crazy mess? Do I use a contractor? An electrician? Someone else??

Thoroseal Application/Fire Escape Painting
We need to have thoroseal applied to the back of our building. We also need to have the fire escape painted (thanks to good old nyc building codes). Can anyone recommend a reliable, quality professional who does this type of work? Also, which should be done first–thorosealing followed by fire escape painting or vice versa?

From wikipedia, subject "Stairway":
Ergonomics and Building Code requirements
"Minimum tread length, typically 9 inches (229 mm) including the nosing. However, most human feet are longer than 9 inches (229 mm), thus people's feet don't actually fit on the tread of the step."
the link to that page (containing lots of additional info regarding stairs) is:

I also have a pair of brownstone doors. I don't have pictures but they are 91" by 30" each and 3 1/2" deep. My husband & I rescued them from a wide brownstone in Cobble Hill for our own narrower one and found they wouldn't fit. If you can cart them away you can have them. email me at er11010011@yahoo.com.

I've got electric baseboard heating in my tenant units. They always say the bills are killers. Did you go with a more efficient system that won't be as costly? I'd like to know about your switchover. I am doing a gut reno and was thinking of switching to gas or even a fdorced hot air system. Am I missing something, or are you doing this in advance of going with some solar panels at a later date. Care to share in this forum (sorry to hijack your offer listing) or offline? I can be emailed at slopefsbo@gmail.com Thanks
