As an investment property...makes NO sense.
As an end user property...makes PERFECT sense (after you get the vacancies).

Hey g string,
Next time you post, have an opinion on something rather than telling me where to voice mine.

Looks great...
Take that exorbant $1.3 million earmarked for that Ft Greene (my nabe) park entrance (doen't really need it and shouldn't cost that much anyway), and build more of these buildings, demolish ALL of the projects in the city, and give the apts to those who really need them...job placement, higher education assistance, etc. wouldn't hurt either.

For the sake of sparing us all from YET ANOTHER long thread about race, class, etc. please lets not get into this ethnicity thing.
I love all races, ethnicities, classes, religions, etc. NY has "all of us" (we're just not all in Manhattan). In BK it's just that we all are in our respective enclaves, and unfortunately, tend to stay there.
When I say variety of people, I'm talking about the lack of individuals here now. We all look the same, shop at the same places, hang out at the same spots, etc.
May not be our fault...there's just a lack of different choices now.
For the record, I don't care if you go to Ohio or hell.

"Is New York losing its soul?"
lol
Its been lost since before you prob moved here Bstoner.
NY, although it had its problems, used to be a city full of variety.
Nowadays you can find the same type of scenery, people, shopping, food (although not as good), museums, etc. in most major US cities...
Hell, the city even sleeps after 2 AM!!!!!
Hate to say it, but to someone who actually is from here, this city is boring me to death now!

I can't believe the powers that be are going to actually allow housing, and more importantly, produce, meats, etc. (Whole Foods)to be sold here someday.
No amount of dredging, capping, or whatever can clean this stuff up.

"oh yes, dollars over editorial integrity, got it."
Why are you surprised my friend?
Its no coincidence Forte has the largest freakin ad banner on this site...
totally out of context...
just like that concrete dildo of a building that looks like the Mayberry version of the Flatiron icon.

Chipotle tastes just as nasty as Mickey D's does, you just think its better because...
a. they make it in front of you,and the guy coughing right next to you in line, so you think its better service.
b. there's a shitload of people in line ahead of you, therefore, "it must be good".
c. they serve beer, therefore its all grownup and a bit cultured (don't let 'em serve microbrews!).

Don't forget Walmart/developers were considering a spot at Albee Sq recently...be very very careful what you wish for.

"he doesnt have THE answer to solve the problem of a municipal government's response to significant problems."
So Ethan, wtf is he doing "considering" running for public office then????? (I would think one would contribute to the public good?)
"That said, I DO agree with him on many of the issues he discussed such as the need to fix the affordable housing problem, the need for more adequate response to citizen calls for action, more building inspectors, and -- of course -- his environmental legislation. "
Was there anything else that impressed you besides this guy telling you what you already know this city needs??

Man I am just so tired of high brow rich/poor/middle income people living so close to me.
Growing up in this city (when my family was middle income), everyone seemed "NORMAL" (I grew up with white/black/latino/asian/catholic/muslim/jew/hindu you name it) that is people didn't necessarily frown upon one another...probably because it would've gotten you mugged or kiled back then.
Nowadays (when we are high income), more and more people in my beautiful, well-off nabe seem more snobby, high brow, etc. and I don't understand why people, when they achieve a certain income bracket or move to a certain "status" neighborhood feel they need to change or try to change (for the worse)?
Funny thing is, it seems like its mostly the new RENTERS acting like this (not really the buyers)!
I cannot for the life of me figure it out.
Kinda wish NYC would revert to the edgier days so that snobs and biggots, should they dare act like that away from the confines of their home's wi-fi signal, would get straightened out quicker than a NY minute.

Yeah I think Corcoran sucks too... uppity/snobby brokers with no market insight (or manners for that matter) makes for a whack brokerage.
REBNY (which is NOT a governmental body) will be great for buyers/sellers because now I can check for midsize and mom and pop company listings that are likely to be priced better (since the "Viking/Subzero finishes only" brokers over at Corcoran, etc. didn't get a chance to overprice the damn inventory in the first place.
More listings + centralized location = MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY!

Thats right 5:26, there is an ABSOLUTE corollation between higher prices and lower dollar (or any other currency).
It takes more dollars to fill up gas because the strength of the dollar (in the eyes of foreign investors, oil suppliers, bond buyers, etc.) is steadily declining. You see America's "FICO score" is worst than anyone elses on this blog!!!!
Just like the guy with maxed out credit and high debt levels takes a big credit hit...so does our greenback!
The government, our government, is currently in debt to the tune of approx 8.3 TRILLION bucks (because not only do they spend more than they take in in tax revenue... but they are essentially repaying bond debt, INTEREST ONLY, by selling more bonds!!!
So yes, homes will continue to "appreciate" simply because the dollar, in my opinion, will continue to "depreciate"....
ALONG WITH THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING ELSE IN OUR COUNTRY.
Lets just hope wages will rise as fast.
P.S. Oh and please please please take any economic news/figures the government gives you with a pound of salt just like you would any political, social news they throw on the wall.
