Affordable Hotel or B&B near Ft. Greene
My parents will be stopping through for a night next weekend and I need a place for them to stay as my place is too small. I’ve been looking for hotels in the area, but they all seem crazy expensive.
The Mariott at the Bk bridge is $429 a night (!?)
The Days Inn is farther than they want to stay, and looks scary to them (they are from the ‘burbs)
The Holiday Inn Express is $288 a night
I found Regina’s B&B on Ft Greene Pl but there is a 3 night stay minimum.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Ideally something around 150$ would be great… I think they would really like a local B&B if I could find one that would take them for only one night.

IPE Wood?
I'm looking for a small amount of IPE wood to build a fence - maybe 10-20 boards. I already have some pieces left over from an earlier project. Does anyone have any extra pieces for sale, or know where to get more? I saw someone mention a place called "Dykes" but I can't find a phone number, address, or website for them. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Meh - this place is "ok" I've eaten there once and I can't say I was impressed enough to go back. There are so many more interesting and better choices near by....
I was also hoping for some flame-action. Oh well. I went this afternoon to check out the monument and the plaza area that has been fenced off for so long. It looks beautiful and I am so glad that this part of the park has re opened!

The food is good and I like the salads, but I really wish they delivered past 6pm. I think I like Il Portos brick oven pizza better, and they deliver, so I'm pretty much sold on them.
I am waiting on that Walgreens!

I love the food here, but I find the portions to be small, especially for the prices.

I have tried this place 2 times, once for brunch, and once for dinner. Both times the service was ridiculously slow... not nice and leisurely slow, but I'm about to die where is my food slow. I can't bring myself to go back since there are so many other great places to eat in the neighborhood.
greenebee wrote a review about The General Greene on September 30, 2008 5:27 PM
I haven't tried this place yet because all of the reviews I've read (including these which seem to be of a similar note) say that they food is overpriced, and the portions small. I want to give this a try at some point... maybe after they start listening to the critiques and the reviews start being more positive? There are so many great places in Ft. Greene to compete with....
This is too bad, I hope they can pick another spot in Brooklyn. I also vote for the Navy Yard. I know some people don't like WF, but it would be nice for those of us who want to shop there to have a closer to home option than going to the city. Fingers Crossed....

18 registers is great... if someone is working at them. I fear the crowds, but the tasty and quick frozen dinners might make me work up the courage to go.

I have eaten here 2 times, once for dinner and once for brunch at the request of a friend (I wouldn't have gone back after my dinner otherwise). The brunch was ok - but I think overpriced for what I got. The back yard seating is nice. The dinner was awful. It was under seasoned, and uninspired. There are so many better choices around. Also, I feel the dining room (inside seating) for some reason gets really loud.

I think the cheesecake is over rated. The rest of the food is sub par, and totally overpriced.
I'm not part of the Superstar DJ Record fair because I am participating in the Carlton Ave Stoop Sale Extravaganza, but I will have a set of technics 1200's for sale (with flight cases, cartridges, and an extra set of cartridges) as well as a few cases of tech house and progressive house records. The Carlton Stoop sales will be taking place 11-5pm on Sunday on Carlton Ave between Lafayette and Myrtle. I am located near the intersection of Carlton and Myrtle.

I can recomend someone NOT to use - new amsterdam metal works. The project took many months to complete, as we obviously were not a priority to them, and ended up costing 2x as much as they bid. Stay away!

I love this place. It's a nice place to go for an evening out with your signif other, without breaking the bank. I've never tried the brunch because I hate fighting the crowds, but I hear its really good from my neighbor.
This should be fun for all the poor folks who are biking home over the bridge. Watch out, fashionistas!

Most of the time I love this place, but they can be hit or miss. When they are busy your "medium" burger can come to you quite rare. Also, lately the size of the fries has been on the small side. But, I would say 8 out of 10 times I am totally happy with the food, and I'm really glad it's near by.
greenebee wrote a review about Pequeña on August 12, 2008 5:15 PM
this mexican is pretty decent, and they deliver in a timely fashion which is nice. My husband and I usually get the apatizer size portions and then share the chips n salsa, plus a side of refried beans. It makes it a better value and you still get plenty of food. I've eaten in there a few times and it's ok - but sometimes kinda cramped and crowded.
ho hum, another bank. I guess it's good to have variety to avoid ATM fees, but there certainly could have been more exciting options.

I am very excited to see this coming to the neighborhood... only thing better would be a decent supermarket. I guess you can't have it all! ;)

I like the food here - yes the menu doesn't change... but always ask about the specials. Usually they are quite good. The one thing I don't like about this place is the portions are small combined with high prices. It's not really a great value, but it is pretty tasty. Usually we opt for pequena, but when we want something a little nicer, we hit up Bonita.

This place can be hit or miss, but when it's on, it's on. I've been going for a few years and have had some really tasty BBQ. I've brought friends here, and they have been impressed. Sometimes I buy their sauce for my own BBQ. Their prices are reasonable, as far as BBQ goes, but I notice they've got up a bit over the years. Overall, I think this is a great addition to the neighborhood.

I've eaten here a few times, and the food is always great. The outside seating is very enjoyable on a spring/summer/fall evening. I've had waiters forget drink orders a few times... but it wasn't the end of the world - just took some reminding. Overall, I love this place.
It's nice to see a garden that is more natural and doesn't look like it came out of a magazine. Nice work!

condo boards can be such a pain. :(
Regarding 3:39 - I had a fence designed and built on my deck by the guys at Brooklyn Design and Custom Carpentry (bkdesignshop.com) they had the best price out of the 4 bids I got, showed up on time, finished on time, and cleaned up after themselves. The project came in on budget. I had a great experience with them.
Good luck.....

booooring. I was hoping for something else in this location. How many banks do we need in one area?

I would recomend Brooklyn Design and Custom Carpentry:
www.bkdesignshop.com
They did a fence for me on my deck, you can see it on their website.
They were really nice, gave me the best price for the job (I got 4 quotes) finished on time and on budget, and cleaned up after themselves.
I had a great experience with them.
Good luck!

WF, or Fairway and I would be in heaven. I would hold my breath, but I don't think it will ever happen. :(

oops, OK I found the Dykes website. But I'd rather buy scraps off someone, or other suggestions of where to buy so I can find the best price. Thanks in advance!
