critters getting to herbs/fruits
i'm under attack by various critters. it seems squirrels have been stealing the strawberries, slugs are on the basil, and i can only imagine what's coming for the tomatoes once they mature. is there a panacea for all these, or do are there seperate treatments for each?

it does have a front, this shot is of the side i believe.
Can Brownstoner for once post pics of the inside of his place, all rooms, so we can spend a day commenting? I think its only fair.

good to hear, it really needs the sprucing up inside. i loved it but it felt like a sad old neglected lady.

better looking and maintained than 90% of the new construction in our precious b.stone neighborhoods. i'd live in this in a snap compared to current b.stone (more light, space, garage, greenery, etc).

cg ups stated my #1 thought when reading this. i wonder how long before the first rider is skewered by a breaking frame.
as for stealing by sawing through the frame, tyburg, this is logical if it's the components youre after. though i'd think it douchey to deck this out in campagnolo super record gear.

park slope house seems high, but not outrageous for what it is. they say 4 story, but then mention upper triplex and lower duplex...does garden level floor not count? either way, if i had ~$3MM in my pocket, not sure i'd want to be a landlord.

how in a first world country do you have bodies resembling starving kids with distended stomaches? ugh. i see a new hipster bar game coming on where they gather in bars, lay on their stomaches, and see who can spin the most revolutions like a top.

tried looking at this free rag, but have found it more useful as a coaster, especially with this sort of writing:
The Flea: "You know you've made it when Brooklyn locals debate the various merits of the Fort Greene location versus your (newer) Dumbo outpost."
really? are all of you debating this?
And this: "STELLAR RE-OPENINGS & MOVEMENT Bird is officially the boutique of Brooklyn"
'nuff said.

im assuming we're talking bout the same house centipedes, very whispy legs that break off easily, grey/silver, look prehistoric/spiky, and move real fast and grow quite large (several inches)?
after we moved in and found a few, it scared the s..t out of my wife (and still does), so i figured out what they were, read up on them, and it turns out a) theyre harmless to humans but can give a tiny bite if you provoke them b) theyre actually beneficial in that they eat other bugs and c) theyre attracted by water, so keep your place clean, and there's apparently no easy way to get rid of them. so we live with the idea of looking up from bed in the middle of the night to see one fall on our face.
Posted by: goldie at August 6, 2009 3:59 PM in response to Garden Apartments & Pests
yes, can confirm more bugs (no roaches or mice at all) in the form of flies, mosquitoes, occassional ants, and occasional house centipede (scary but harmless things). upside: cooler temps, fireflies, lush garden we sit out in all the time and bbq and our friends are envious.

good for naidres and i hope others follow suit, or at least require a minimum purchase. i've had to walk out of places b/c i couldnt find a place to sit with my meal and drink, while people hog a whole table with at times a coffee, and often not even that. i imagine owners lose money considering cost of internet + electricity usage + annoyed customers who dont go b/c of the lack of seating.

YAY! i didnt know of this place, but it's now on top of the list. the other "mexican" places in P.S. are sad, and i'm boggled everytime i pass by los pollitos on 5th and see it packed. i curse those gringos' bad taste.
Rob, for just plain sand and water, Coney is closest but not particularly nice in my opinion. If you want a nicer beach and want to try out surfing, Long Beach is quite nice and an easy LIRR ride (drops you right on the beach). The people are a bit better looking in Long Beach I think.

maybe the rest of the lego pieces are still in transit.
scary thing is there are probably people involved who looked at the designs with pride. i can only hope for the hood's sake this is cheap construction and will topple soon.

does your bike have the bar-end plugs missing or is it just my pic? if so, one good fall will take a nice core sample out of you.
oh, and buying a "decent bike" is silly unless youre doing some serious riding , unless you like getting sh.t stolen. i had a nice mtn.bike stolen in the middle of the day from in front of ozzies. now i have a nicer bike (for mtn biking) but use a big f.ck-off chain, and am not often out of view of the bike.

like the sarcasm! but i wasnt saying throw people out. take the amusement park and make it into more useful public space, or revenue generating property such as lux highrises or retail space or whatever. as for santa monica, get rid of rent control and let it float to market rate. s.m. has many people paying a couple hundred a month to live near/on the water, while they drive BMWs and meanwhile the landlords can barely pay for maintenance.
