...we don't have to review every fast food restaurant and convenience store in Brooklyn on slow news days.

What's next for the "restaurant" review? Subway franchises? Why don't we just take a break on this if there's nothing new to review.
By the way, this place does make very good sandwiches. But I'm just saying....
I've seen it. You may take issue with the layout, but there are always compromises there.
For me, the issue was it doesn't look as good as the photos. The restoration/renovation is't clean. Mouldings painted too many times, gaps between floors and walls, painting withtout skimcoating, choice of materials, etc.
Also, the backyard is kind of unappealing, and has limited potential due to adjacent properties.
Location is great, however, if you like 5th.
Real issue, IMHO , may be the way the eccentric listing process - FSBO, non-exclusive listings, owner says he's a broker and may or may not be, step behind market reality in terms of price expectations. I think that's why it's gone stale.
I wouldn't read too much into the other factors, since worse places have sold faster.

Superstooper....Google people speculation is plausible. I remember meeting someone who was married to one of the early developers at Google (did gmail) and they were selling this really big loft on Crosby St. and bidding on a place on PPW. I assumed it was a much humbler place on PPW that was on the market at the same time, although I'm not sure why I did. (Combination of her being quite modest and my being jealous?) They had two kids and were young.
I wish I had developed gmail, because I think this is the best house in NYC.

Why does all the good stuff open up in WB, CG/CH/BH and even PH and not in Park Slope? PS gets relatively lamer by the day.
I know there are a few places, mainly on 5th or Flatbush. But the opening ratio is like 10:1 against. They get Prime Meats or Franny's or Brooklyn Start and we get a 1980's vintage upper west side sushi bar.
There are plenty of people in PS who'd appreciate it. Hoping someone will notice.

Superstooper--It doesn't have anything to do with the painting. Check goldie's post record. Nastiness seems to follow her. She seems to be a bad influence on Dave as well.

Dave, Goldie: nice to see you tag-teaming these days in going after people. You're so much nastier now that you're working together.

Agreed, Heather! Because they all use the same plastic surgeons. That's not just a snarky joke, it's for real, that's why they look alike.

Oh for me it's not so much as 'conventionally pretty' (I love Judy Davis for example, smashing gal) but find SJP quite off-putting; maybe it's five-too-many episodes of S&TC which I found boring and prdictable; SJP's character to me was repellent, an unbelievable combination of little-girl-cutesiness and annoying worldliness. Totally un-sexy.

A friend of ours is renovating a brownstone for a hollywood couple (writers, not actors) who bought in Brooklyn Heights. He had told us that when his clients first bought in Brooklyn, they had dinner with SJP and MB who were very interested in leaving the WV and were thinking of looking in Brooklyn as well. This was maybe a year ago or a little longer than that. So I don't think it's out of the question...

Rob is famous, lives in the Slope and is much funnier than SJP.
Five minutes may be all my online time today, so buy for now. (I meant "bye", but "buy" fits the RE topic.)

The irony of seeing moving to Brooklyn being treated like exile in Siberia in the Sex and the City movie is not lost on me

Yeah...let's review Rye. I didn't even know it was there before your post.
What else is out there that hasn't been reviewed?
