Custom Wood Bookcases

Can anyone recommend a fine carpenter who could build me a wall of bookshelves with cabinets below? I'm moving mid-December and need them for the new apartment.
Thanks,
Jane

Buying into Newswalk?

I'm thinking of bidding on an apartment in Newswalk. Everyone I've spoken to who lives there seems to like it notwithstanding issues re leaks, HVAC and rising common charges. So am I crazy to buy in now?

Minimal kitchen alterations

I'm looking to add additional cabinets and replace countertops in a kitchen. I need a contractor who can a) match existing cabinetry and b) install corian. I would love suggestions and phone numbers for who to use... I'm off to Ikea this a.m. for comparison.

Thanks Greg, but no, my wall is longer than that and I'm going with light wood...

I second that recommendation. However, you may have to keep calling and calling him as he is VERY busy. But it's worth the wait.

Hey there, I was very happy with the work done by Soxco (ask for Anton). 718 858 5991. They rebuilt my existing stairs from underneath, making a very bouncy staircase feel brand new again.

An accepted offer is not the same as a contract. Therefore, you don't have a deal until you have a contract...

not to belabor the point raised by BrooklynIsHome above -
the --im ending of a word in Hebrew signifies plural.
Therefore one Hasid, two Hasidim.

Thus ends your Hebrew grammar lesson for today.

Sorry I have no useful comment to OP, just make sure you have a good lawyer because it sounds like it could be messy - even though probably totally legal.

Bill Barnett is your person. He did extensive stair work and mill work for me - excellent, professional, fast, 1/2 the price of Anton of Soxco Stairs. His telephone number is 917-327-2661.

i would recommend bill for sure his price may be half the price he left me with a job half done also.
And ask me much more that the estimate he gave me .

Too bad, he did everything for me on time. He built a front door, a frame for an internal stained glass window, replaced my stairs in the main hallway, created a railing in my duplex for an internal staircase and made specialty millwork (moulding) for a kitchen. He did excellent work for me and many on this site have used him. Search brownstoner.

Bill did a great job for us as well. His quoted price remained the same, the job (replacing all treads and risers on one flight of stairs) was done is less than two days. He was very nice to work with….and we found him to be very honest…..

I am looking to sell a large, custom built mahagony bookcase. The piece is 10'6" (w) x 9'6" (h) x 14" (d). It includes a row of cabinets below. It is in excellent shape (and is currently disassembled). We have been asking $2,500 but would accept a reasonable offer. Interested?
