Brooklyn Foreclosures

Where do y'all go to learn about the auctions? Property Shark? The New York Law Journal? The listings posted at the courthouse?

Better to Sell in December or January?

We are moving and need to put our apartment (a beautiful Carroll gardens 1BR) on the market in the next month or two -- alas, it can't wait until the prime months of spring. We anticipate getting about $550k for the place. My question: Though neither month is great, is one preferable? Does it make sense to wait until January (when Wall Street bonuses are afoot), or should we start ASAP (meanng around 12/1)? Help us make an important decision! Thanks!

How do we reach you? We're interested, though an expected price would help.

I'm not sure I would recommend him for other renovations, but Rafiq (917-239-2143) did a fantastic job on our floors in Carroll Gardens for less than $2/sf.

We live one-half a block west of the BQE on President Street, second floor. With the windows open, you can of course hear the traffic, but it sounds a lot like the ocean. We've only been there a month, but it took exactly one day to get used to. A dim white noise.

We don't smell/see/sense any exhaust, but I'd love to read a report/study about how much remains despite the sea breeze ...

And I agree with 11:55 -- rising waters may be a serious concern, in half a century or so ...

The one on Henry has in fact closed, most likely because their ice creams SUCKS. Really, how could anyone think otherwise? It boggles the mind. Plus, as noted above, the Hummer!

"Free baby sitting, inexpensive food and inexpensive furniture and
furnishings are some of the highlights."

Why is Brownstoner all of a sudden a good place to run PR/propaganda for a big box store? Okay, IKEA is coming, people are excited (or angry), but why are people cutting and pasting the store's ads and posting it here? I assume someone from IKEA did this? Annoying.

FYI, I think there's a photo mix-up -- that building isn't 30 Ocean Parkway (though the photo of the entrance is correct).

Wow, another completely unknown hole-in-the-wall restaurant! How do you guys find these secret little places!

(Seriously -- wouldn't this feature be a little more useful if you looked at restaurants that even, say, my parents who live in Arizona know about?)

oops, a little bit too late to make this clarification now, but I meant to say:

".. wouldn't this feature be a little more useful if you DIDN'T looked at restaurants that even, say, my parents who live in Arizona know about?"

Not only was I "rude," but a little non-sensical, too. Sorry on both accounts ...

Not very good food, not very nice space. Not sure why it's always so busy.

That said, I would like to commend Brownstoner for finally profiling a place that some people might not have already heard of. Too bad it isn't very good.

I disagree with "slopefarm": There is a reason to rate this place -- namely, to warn people away. Though your cousins from Poughkeepsie may beg to go, fight that urge. I literally wwalked away from my meal. Times were tight, but I would rather go hungry than force down heavy, burnt, crappy meal I ordered. Not even on a novelty level, folks. Stay away!

I have a similar stove by Slattery, Model 59001. It's 36" inches wide! Perfect working order. I'm trying to find out any information about it, but my internet search has been futile. Does anyone know more information about the Slattery stoves?
