Part bar, part resto, always feels a little indecisive as to which it wants to be more. Certainly a nice place for a 10-person birthday party or the like, you can make noise, laid-back vibe, nice options with the small and larger plates. The food is not memorable in any real way though, which for a restaurant isn't amazing.

Has such the right local vibe, and the proof of that is how packed the joint always is, even on Mondays and Tuesdays. Favorite thing is how free and easy Habana always feels, no pressure to do anything but hang. So the only strike against is it's too much of a zoo sometimes! Corn=yum.

Such a peaceful, classy joint, and so clearly a labor of love. It's quiet and low-maintenance the way a Manhattan institution like Chanterelle is, but I was hoping for a few more bells and whistles in terms of service and straight-up taste than what I expected. Places like this that promote their approach and attentiveness sometimes leave the wow out of the actual meal. But it remains the place I send Manhattanites looking for secret Brooklyn spots (and friends with parents in town), and the vibe is still unique even in the sea of Brooklyn gastronomes.
