yes . white vinegar will unclog it . dump a bottle of white vinegar down the drain overnight . in the morning boil water and dump that down the drain . don't ever use drano . that stuff rots the pipes out .

give him a written extention til april 30 th

you should always include a rider in your leases that after a 1 YR LEASE is up you do not allow month to month tenancy

anon 2:21 is right . Most of the Bed Stuy bashers are the ones who wished they bought . Granted bed stuy is very big . Parts of it will take 20 yrs to change ,but ive seen a enourmous change in the 4 yrs ive owned there .

I looked at buying a house on Pulaski near Tompkins last year (the block I was looking at was near Home Depot). The block itself was pretty bleak (lots of unfinished new construction), and both nights I walked by there were like 5-10 teenagers causing havoc in the street.

I didn't feel safe walking because of the teenagers and general lack of... anything else, so I passed. But then when I walked back the way I came along the next block (tried once North and once South of Pulaski) I had a great time. Very nice folks.

Walk to and from public transportation a couple of times at night and see for yourself.

I am a little worried you might be talking about my house, which I bought 'as-is' for less than 70% of the asking price because a previous buyer had bailed after learning about termites in the inspection. I hired my own structural inpector and termite inspector and discovered lots of damage and lots of crappy attempts to cover it up. I'm an architect/engineer, so I took a risk and bought the place anyway. I think the low price more than makes up for the work I'm doing to repair/restore the place.
Incidentally, I also forced the broker to hunt down the contact information for the previous inspector, and hounded him with calls and offers of cash for his report. Eventually he gave me a verbal report over the phone using pretty much the same language you've described -- lucky the house didn't fall down, toss up between restoring or tearing down (this is what makes me think you're talking about my house!).
But I digress. The point is... would I want you to march over to my house and deliver the "bad news"? I guess I would. I would probably be slightly annoyed, and I would think you're kind of a busybody/know-it-all, but ultimately I would be happy for the information about my house and happy to know that my neighbors care about my well-being. So I guess I'll see you at my doorstep soon.

You HAVE to be kidding me. A tip? What is this a food service industry, some graft-riddled Central American country, perhaps?

Do NOT tip these jerks. It's their job and their profession - Brooklyn, NY, Brookline, MA, Bound Brook, NJ...wherever, it doesn't matter.

I actually work as a software service engineer in a field-based location, and given my education and my profession being knowledge-based, if one of my customers tried to tip me, I'd find it insulting. If these losers had any pride, they would so as well.

Tell the lawyer and the title clerk, you'll tip them both $500 - but first you get to kick them in the balls.

Gateway plumbing proven to be terrible from my experience. They ripped me off for unprofessionally, poorly done job. I would stay away from them. I am also suspicious of the highly positive feedback about this company throughout this site, they all very similar. This kind of behaviour only undermines the efforts undertaken by such community driven sites like brownstoner.

I live in Marine Park, Brooklyn and we rec'd our Keyspan bill with a higher amount as well, in addition it stated that the delivery charge for the amount was $200 -- we are thinking there's something going on here.

I found this as well, like in Arlington, MA. and the bill seems to be at least 50% larger than the previous tenants. This is my first experience with KeySpan, though I don't like 'em already. Yikes!
