Vin Roy Baronette

I've seen recommendations here for him and also for a local realtor who has several properties in the Slope. He did some brick work repair and was to return to do a much bigger stone repair . He's now MIA and over the past week has not returned 7 calls and 2 txts on 646-554-4513. Anyone know anything?

Painting Outdoor Bay Window

We have a 1st floor outside metal bay with wooden windows that's down to the bare metal and wood in places . 2/3rd of the bay can reached from the extension roof but a 1/3 overhangs, and might need a rig to reach it . I'm looking for someone who is also used to using Fine Paints of Europe.

Ignoring Coop rules

We're a small 6 unit Coop. One of our members is a single mother, is at a loss and has lost control of her 17-18 year old unemployed son who frequently gathers his friends and parties in front of our home, sometimes until 4 am in the morning. As neighbors we have complained to her .We suspect that there are drugs involved and that she's totally intimidated by her son and friends who have access to the house and our whole Coop. She blatantly went against some coop ruling in the name of helping her son .We have offered our help in the past, but quite frankly we're all at a loss what to do and feel we need to protect our property. What is our in house recourse before the block association or we have to call the police. Can they seize her apartment if there are drugs involved? She is responsible for a minor. Can we force her to move/ sell? We welcome any advice or resource

Limestone Facade

The front facade of our landmark limestone has moved forward leaving about an inch gap above a 3rd floor window. The engineers said it's all structurally sound and that the facade can be re-connected to the building with angle brackets and a stainless steel rod and the gap be filled with epoxy mortar. My question is since this is a repair, does this need 1. Landmarks permission or 2. Work permit or both? Secondly can anyone recommend a stonemason to do this repair.

Thank you all for your comments, it's been really helpful I'll pass it on to the Coop members.

Thank you all for your comments. The reluctance to call the police, is that as a small coop, we have for most of the time worked as a family of friends . We are the board, and wouldn't want to see her arrested.
Denton , what does a 60 day notice to cure mean? how does a Coop start eviction proceedings . we have no Coop lawyer.

I wondered if you followed up this lead with Albert's . I'm looking for similar.

It was a pleasure to work with Jay at New Image Glass and Windows. He installed one custom made triple track storm window with warrantee, refinished the sills and caulked all my other windows for me yesterday. He's calm, careful, respectful polite and efficient and does a thoroughly good job as well as cleaning and taking away all the debris . He's at 347-408-5602

I can thoroughly recommend Terri Lawler used to be at Bermans now at Prudential . She and her husband have lived in PS for over 30 years . She knows the ins and outs of our hood.

Thanks for the info . Sounds good , did you choose gold leaf as I see there's no border options with specialities. I assume they go on the ouside as opposed to painting numbers that go on the inside. I checked yesterdays threads and archives couldn't see anything relevant or links . Should I be looking elsewhere?

Grand Szechuan in Bay Ridge was featrued in the NY Times a few months back with great reveiews. I've ordered from them and its very good.

Its located on 5th ave between 86th and 87th.

I thought Grand Szechuan was pretty good until some friends from Shanghai area told and brought me to a place which they deem is authentic Szechuan (vs. them saying Grand Szechuan is a little Americanized version). This authentic place is:

Szechuan Gourmet
135-15 37th Ave
Flushing, NY 11354

Authentic vs. Americanized - that's a matter of preference. I liked both places but do admit the Szechuan Gourmet is more authentic tasting and dishes could pretty spicy if you don't ask the wait staff to moderate on it.

I go to the Grand Szechuan in Manhattan on 2nd Ave and like it a lot. The ma po dou fu is extremely hot & spicey and the best I've had...also it has the softest tofu of anyplace.

what m4l said. In addition to the Szecheun place he recommended I'd add the food court in the Golden Mall on Main Street, Flushing--there's a delicious stall right by the entryway that has 100% authentic Chengdu-style Szechuan food. Order the tea smoked duck.

It's very difficult to find a Chinese restaurant anywhere in NYC with quality, authentic food.

The other problem is that most non-Chinese don't know how to order properly at a Chinese restaurant, so they end up with a mediocre or bad meal at a decent restaurant.

Sunset Park restos do not blow my socks off. Some of the tiny cafes are okay. Pacificana is a big Chinese banquet house, nothin' special.

Anyone have a good recommendation for Shanghai Style?

Posted by: 1910 at August 24, 2009 12:26 PM in response to Best chinese restaurant in BKLN

I enjoyed the Sichuan food at Metro Cafe in Sunset Park. It's a very casual pan-Asian place, not pretending to be an authority or fancy.

I have also found Grand Sichuan in Manhattan on 2nd Ave. and 54th St. to be truly outstanding. It is *not* the same as the other restaurants of the same name in New York City. They are all different.
