Original metal safe

My brownstone has a metal safe that is original to the house. It is on wheels and I will have it built into new cabinets. It was built into a closet that was not original to the house. It is a cool looking old safe, but the finish needs cleaning. I tried googling "cleaning antique metal safe" and similar, but no luck. It doesn't seem painted, but surface is sort of pitted. I don't know what category to put this in, on forum, sorry. Any suggestions how to have this cleaned or even find info re: old safes?

interior brick walls

I have had 3 sides of my garden floor walls stripped down to the brick. The front and back (of the house) walls have some areas in which the bricks have shifted and lots of mortar is spilling/flaking out. Any suggestions or referrals/info about dealing with this? Can I just have the walls wire brushed and sealed where it is in good shape and then patch with cement mortar where it is messy. It will be covered by cabinets where it is mostly messy anyway.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

LED ceiling lights instead of high hats?

We are renovating the garden floor of our brownstone and all interior walls are removed. Any comments on LED overhead ceiling lights as opposed to high hats? The LED's are much more $$ but , aside from saving cost in electricity, are there any other advantages?

Sharing Contractors

I have been quite satisfied with the terrific contractors who are now almost finished with the feat of turning 2 ugly/tiny bathrooms into a lovely bath and steam room/shower, in my house. They knocked down walls and reconfigured and custom-made the spaces to fit our needs and desires. I will post pics when finished. Awesome! If anyone is interested in contractors who do great work, are honest and also have a good eye for design and work with you personally on every detail, check out TF Kitchens! I have worked with contractors on other parts of my house and have never been so satisfied! Now they are doing my kitchen and family room.

Yes! I have 1 silestone and 1 ceasarstone counter and I love them. Easy to clean, no sealing, and after a while i got brave enough to cut veggies on them and they are fine. Still look and feel great. Make sure you choose and specify the type of edge you want, as you have many choices for the way it can be cut.
