Mouse in the House
Okay, so starting last week my roommate noticed some mouse droppings in her room. Last night she awoke to one scratching around in her waste paper basket.
2 large construction projects on the street have picked up steam as of late, which is what I assume is causing them to come into our house (we keep the place very clean, with no food laying around)
Has anybody experienced this problem and can offer any suggestions on what we can do (other then calling an exterminator who will set traps)

Exactly Snappy - and that's why 'popular music' is bullshit.
Even Jay-Z is whack now. Nas needs to come back with the Illmatic shit!

"Beyonce is overrated. I see better-looking chicks in the subway. She does have good thighs, I agree. But she can't sing worth a sh*t and IMHO is about as intriguing as a traffic cone. Not that anyone cares about what I think about Beyonce."
Amen - I feel the same about Rihanna (except she's pretty damn hot though)

""Beyonce's "Single Ladies"
I HATE that song! You're single. I get it! "
no doubt ENY - but i wouldn't even call it a song. more like a chant. there's no singing to be heard in that song.

yeah - but sports illustrated doesn't report on american sports, and then sporadically cut to some pakistanis playing cricket and make fun of them.

which is great if you plan on moving in a year.
i love greenpoint too - but green st isn't a 2400 dollar a month street.

LMAO
apts are cheaper at 65 Ainslie and 384 Union - and in an infinitely better locatoin.

Looks like we were all wrong about this one guys!!
I saw a one bedroom here for shits and giggles, not very special at all. I thought the broker (or mgmt person) was lying when they said they were having no problems renting them out.
It's also comical what passes off as a pool nowadays. yeah a 3 foot wading pool in a dungeon like room isn't good for anything except as a breeding ground for the coxsackie virus.

Was this one of those FHA 3.5% down buildings?
If so, monthlies would probably end up being way less than renting something comparable (or worse) in the area.
There was a building like this on Judge St that didn't look quite as nice that sold like hotcakes.

400psf - and walking distance to the 'Pumps' strip club on Metro and Grand.

Sorry - whenever Minard makes comments like that I just can't help but picture him as a crotchety old man sitting on his plastic covered couch in some co-op in Brooklyn Heights that smells like moth balls and ben gay trying to figure out how to DVR Matlock and Murder She Wrote re-runs while his wife sits on a rocking chair beside him doing the Readers Digest crossword puzzle.

the blocks that dead end into mccarren are nice though (except banker)
i've seen alot more outrageous pricing on houses in worse locations (that hellhole under the BQE in Carroll Gardens a couple of days ago comes to mind)

sorry - Guernsey btw norman and meserole is the really nice block - this one isn't bad though.
Posted by: dirty_hipster at November 19, 2009 11:10 AM in response to Brooklyn Sales: Under a Million
that block of Guernsey is awesome (in the historic district I think) - and rental prices there are really high.
assuming it's broken up into 3 - 2 bedroom apts they could probably get 6600 - 7k a month in rent roll, more if renovated decently.

I think housing is overpriced and would like to see it come down to some level of normalcy - but I think it's pretty dickish to take pleasure in someone else's hardships - especially if what Wasder said about the owners is true.
