I stopped in at the sales office back in February/March and they indicated a move in date of January 2007. Doubted it then, but looks possible. And the sales people were pretty unhelpful.

I lived in a 2 br apt in a brownstone in Prospect Heights, close to Atlantic Center and Bergen St train stations, and we only paid $1900 and the current renters pay $2000. Paying the same price for a 1 br with less train accessibility seems high.

i grew up in a brownstone on the upper west side and our neighbors tried to do something like this, but the tenants kept leaving their trash next to it rather than opening the lid.

we just bought something smaller rather than pursue this, but in san franscisco, where i lived for a while, this is standard practice. similar to brownstones in size, there are all those older victorian homes that are perfect for two-three couples.

i grew up in a brownstone on the upper west side and it had recessed mailboxes at the top of the stoop in a small foyer before a second door (never had problems with people sleeping in the foyer).

and unlike brooklyn, the mailmen never seemed to have problems walking up the stairs.

i took a look at it on saturday and it does look like its shaping up pretty nice. the big if is what is going to happen next door.

if you work a normal 9-5 job, then across from the school isn't too bad, especially since people are usually making sure the street is safe, but if you work at home, then its deadly - loud screaming kids all day long.

i walked by the other day and noticed that there are also gaps between the facing and the structure - i forsee heating issues for years to come. as for the building between atlantic and fulton, they're moving forward furiously - they've been digging for a while, but finally look like they're starting to get the retaining walls poured. and they now have an architect placque outside - Stephen B Jacobs Group.
