Brickoven,
The discrepancy is ALL based on the ratio of black and white simple as that.

And to think, in 1992 a two bedroom 2 bath apartment facing the museum was up for sale in this building for only $30K but I was too young and broke to afford it. :(

The buzz surrounding this restaurant was stellar. So, I was very excited to go there for brunch a few weeks ago. Upon arriving, there was a 35 minute wait. I waited in anticipation of a great meal. The hostess was very nice and accomodating. She took my cell number and call me when they were ready for us.
It goes down hill from there. The service was lousy. The waistress was in la-la land; walking around as if she were auditioning for the role of her life. My salmon dish with capers was just okay and my friend's hamburger was burnt to a crisp. Since when does medium-well mean turn it into soot?
I will try them for dinner but brunch was very unimpressive.

Why is it that when it comes to income Hispanics and Blacks almost ALWAYS positioned as a homogeneous group made up of primarily lower income people while Whites are a "high" income? Come on, it's 2008!!!
The Census article from which the information was extrapolated ALSO stated that the average HH income level in Bed-Stuy increased. Well, the assumption would be that the White hipsters who are MOSTLY RENTING in Bed-Stuy are driving the increase. However, most of that increase is being driven by Black professionals who are moving back to the neighborhood and renovating the beautiful brownstones. The White hipsters in Bed-Stuy are broke!! If they had money the'd chose to live elsewhere.

As a Dominican, I tend to shy away from Dominican restaurants because the food never lives up to my expectations. Well, the food here is like my gradma's cooking. The food is fresh, not over seasoned and the service is great. If you are interested in trying authentic tasting Dominican food, head to El Nuevo Viejo Yayo II on skates right now!!! YUMMY!!
