Upscale gourmet doesn't sound righ for that location, given that Trader Joe's is moving in a block away. Also, when that New Balance store moved in next door, it just felt really wrong, especially when you see the people lined up at the theater next door not to mention the Eckard's across the street. Gristede's sounds right. But one of those other annoying chains could easily fit the bill too.

For something that tall, 831 sq ft. is miniscule. They're definitely maximizing number of units per floor.

I'm really surprised by the no vacancy and the glut of hotels coming here. I can't imagine asking my parents or in-laws to stay in that area. Definitely some people our age, but it's still a cess pool. I doubt rezoning and gentrification will remove all of the auto parts stores and frankly, I like frequent some of them.

Hey I go to that car wash! Aside from that, given the amount of traffic on 4th Ave, why would anyone want to move into a condo on that street? I predict anything on the west side of the street just become a wall to the Gowanus.

We were there this afternoon. Fairly empty aside from a crew of Japanese and Indian TV reporters hogging the best corner for photographing the waterfall. Other than that, very relaxed, new mounds of grass (very squishy), the concrete is painted white (very bright and will get dirty fast), picnic tables are nice, and a huge sand pit (biggest I've ever seen and my kid loved it as she was the only one).
Only the Indian TV crew ordered from the cafe (and they only ordered fries), so couldn't tell quality and I wasn't going to take a chance. Looks like it'll do well though. If they blasted some music, it'd be like Water Taxi Beach.

I live on Tiffany as well and it's a mess. Not only to the businesses on Columbia but it's been a strain on the entire neighborhood. From what I've heard, it's not the streets they're improving, but rather all of the sewage/water infrastructure for OneBrooklyn condos and any other future building plans. But what blows me away is that most of the construction is happening on the east side of the street, where there's just the piers. Why don't they just work there and repair our street?
I also love seeing my tax money go towards the 2 lazy traffic cops they have on Columbia/Degraw to move traffic since that light there apparently isn't doing it's job. wtf?
