Help! My neighbor's AC is dripping on us!

Over the past few nights, we have been kept up by the constant dripping of our upstairs neighbor's AC onto our AC. It's ridiculously loud, since the AC is 6 floors above us (it sounds like someone throwing rocks at our window). We spent a considerable amount of money putting our AC in our window and do not want to move it. Is there anything that our neighbor can do to fix his/her AC? We live in a co-op and I was wondering if there was any course of action I can take to have them either move their AC to another window or fix it.

I thought this was strange too but I spoke to a real estate lawyer that I know and he said that "it's just the way it's done". He didn't have any reason for it. He thought it was usually around $100 and seemed to think it was offensive not to tip.

I am a member of the Park Slope classified listserv which is great. However, I wouldn't pay $25/year for it. 13,000 members x $25=325,000/year (not including paid advertisers) for a blog? Hopefully, this will just make our FREE Fort Greene babies and kids listservs more popular.

That place looks like it needs a ridiculous amount of work inside. I wouldn't be as worried about the facade...

I live in Clinton Hill and think this is way overpriced for a 1 bedroom. Most of the 2 bedrooms in the area are going for this price. Our 1 1/2 bedroom in the Clinton Hill coops was about $100,000 less 2 years ago.

I was hoping they would open one in the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill area. We have plenty of strollers and students here to keep them busy!

Our child was recently accepted to the co-op school and we were thrilled. We thought it was a little odd that the email recommended that we walk by the new location but after going there, I understand. We were extremely disappointed by the location, which was not only further away, but across the street from an empty lot with trash all over the streets. I wouldn't want to pick up my child by myself when it got dark. I'm surprised that anyone affiliated with the school is "thrilled" by the location. I thought it was funny that the price of the coop school was increased (along with a requirement of a $2000 bond) when they basically moved to a crappier (albeit it larger) location.

I went there with my almost 2 year old and my husband. While I love the concept of the place, I thought the food was too expensive for the small portion size and very mediocre. It reminded me of cafeteria food but much more expensive. We ordered nachos, hot chocolate, chicken fingers, philly cheese steak, and something else and everything was so so to bad. I almost felt like they would be better off offering fewer items that actually tasted good. The play room was great and it was nice to be able to sit there and enjoy a meal while my daughter played. We probably won't be going back because of the food.

Heard a rumor about it needing a plumbing inspection.

I would recommend a real estate law firm with a litigation group. I don't know if you necessarily need an "aggressive" lawyer but one who will get things done in time and knows what paperwork to file, who to talk to you, etc. Email me offline at wettera1@hotmail.com and I can give the email address of our lawyer as well as any other info you might need.

I would recommend a real estate lawyer. They're used to dealing with this stuff. We used Smith, Buss, and Jacobs http://www.smithbussjacobs.com/ for our closing in Brooklyn and were very happy.

Agree with above. I believe I had a salmon sandwich-extremely mediocre and overpriced. Service was pretty terrible, even though we went there during the day and no one was there. I don't plan to go back, even though I work right down the street.

We had both our daughter's baptism and birthday parties here over the past year, mainly because of the good food, prices, and excellent service. It's very baby friendly, which might affect the ambience a bit, but I think it's a great place to bring kids. I have never tried the pizza, but have enjoyed the chicken and veal parm and the salmon as well. Serving size is great.

This is disturbing for many reasons 1. It happened in the middle of the day. 2. It was in a busy area 3. Innocent people were shot. My nanny and my child were walking around here when they heard gunshots and had to run away. They could have easily been caught in the gunfire.

I second Baltic Bazaar on Atlantic Ave across from Long Island College Hospital. The prices are very cheap.

booknerdnyc-Are you planning to sell used books as well as new books at your bookstore? I myself usually buy new books online to save money, but I'm a sucker for used book stores. The prices are more reasonable and I'd love to have a place to trade in old books.

Damn, I heard rumors it was going to be the new food co-op.

Thanks for all of the constructive suggestions. I sucked it up and bought the AC cover (foam with magnetic backing) that slopefarm recommended. It cost $23 and you cut it to fit your AC. It has made such a huge difference and is probably a good investment, as we keep the AC there year round.

Also, I've read about placing things on top of our AC to muffle the noise, but it would involve taking apart our AC mounting, which would cost us more money to fix.
