Oh I hope it's something good. Some place romantic. I met my husband when we both worked in this building.
Alas it will probably be a Legal Seafood or some other over priced chain.

I like the design but what's up with the great wall of china? How high is that rear fence?

I live a block away from the canal and I would certainly prefer to have the City do the clean-up. Those who support the Super Fund just don't understand the negitive effect that will have on home owners in the area. Who the hell wants to live in a Super Fund area? Plus the Super Fund takes decades to do anything.I don't think Three Mile Island is completely cleaned yet. I'm not crazy about the proposed development though.

Wow, I just looked at that site, they actually linked to a buyers wedding announcement in the NYT's . WTF does that have to do with real estate? TMI

You cannot conduct any RE transaction without being sponsored by a Broker.
Also, you must disclose to the seller & his agents that you are a licensed RE agent even when buying for yourself

Last night my husband saw a family of 4 possums walking along on back garden wall in Carroll Gardens. I was thrilled, they eat slugs, snails and mice!

Starfish, when your tenant is ready to move, he/she has already paid the last months rent and can probably prove it. So you're out a months rent thanks to Rapid. I would have demanded that they turned that over to me.

Congrats and welcome to Brooklyn! There is so much that you can do for very little money. Even though we are at the end of the growing season, you may want to consider covering the dust bowl with low cost mulch and adding pots of ferns that you can bring indoors for the winter. Pots of aster or other colorful fall flowers would kick it up a notch.
Get some gardening books at the library and start planning your garden for next season.
I bet you'll never live without a garden again. Good Luck

Red walls, red & black furniture, it just reminds me of my first apartment in 1972. All that's missing is a stucco wall.
Sorry but I expected something a little more stylish. But to each his own, I wish them many happy days there.

Gemini, this is my pet peeve with corco, they often omit pics of the kitchens. My guess is that it may have plenty of cabinets but are probably very old or very ugly.

I agree, an island would look great and provide counter space. The listing says the outdoor space is private but from the furniture it looks to be communal. Does anyone know?

Gemini, THL
So glad to see others think Kelly is off her rocker. If it was the real housewives of brooklyn and Kelly kept someone waiting for half hour and then said"too bad", the next episode would probably open in a funeral parlor.

DIBS, thanks. I never noticed that button before. That garden is in large part what makes this place much more livable that a condo. Your living space is expanded for almost half the year.

Posted by: cggirl at March 31, 2009 2:16 PM in response to House of the Day: 93 2nd Street

I know this house well. It is on the small side but soo much better that a condo. It was origianlly build as a workman's cottage ( there's about 8 of them on the block) around the late 1890's, early 1900's. It's too bad that there is not a picture of the landscaped garden, it's lovely. The interior is drenched in sunlight. This is a great block . Friendly neighbors and plenty of kids. The best block parties and New Year's Eve parties. My guess is that will sell slightly below asking, maybe 1.1

Loved the fried chicken but didn't like the waffles with it. I know it's a southern thing but I could do without it. Garlic mashed would be much better.

This is a gutsy move for broker in this market. Good luck Brownstone

What a bunch of "fraidy cats". Everyone wants to own their own home and be in control of their own destiny. Who the hell wants to be at the mercy of a landlord who may raise your rent or sell the home. Not to mention no tax write off. If you're planning on living in a new home for several years, you won't get hurt. It's only those looking for a quick flip that should stay put.

I have an eat-in kitchen and while it's great to talk to friends while I cook, I HATE looking at the pots while we eat. Most people don't seem to mind that though because the open kitchen is the most popular style. I know several people who did not buy in Pre-War buildings because of cook-in kitchens. I don't think this developer has any other choice.

Great design! I hope you have better luck with your apple than I did. I planted an apple tree 20 years ago and have had a love/hate relationship with it for the last 15. Since I don't use insecticides, the flies have found a lovely home and the fruit is no longer edible. Except for the the wildlife. I love all the birds that it attracts ( yellow belly sap suckers, orioles, jays, cards etc)the squirrels, no so much. They sit high in a branch and peg half eaten apples at our dogs head. Thus I end up with a catalpa-esque mess and more flies.Still, I will not remove it.

I always enjoy this place. Agreed, the pastry is the best!

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but Pshark shows that Chase gave a $2,166,686 mortgage on this place back in 1999.
I know the market was strong back then but who in their right mind ever thought this place on that block was EVER worth that much!

The thought of this makes me ill. I live on 2nd St which is all 1 & 2 family houses. Kids still play outside but that will end with so many strangers using 2nd St to get to the subway. If this project was scaled back a bit(like 3rd & Bond) I could support it. I'll fight tooth & nail to keep this from happening!

What is the purpose of the sofit above the kitchen? Is this just a design element or does it serve a functional purpose?

I appreciate the attempt to blend in ie use of brick and front yards but it appears to stop there. Cornices and wrought iron railing on the roof patios would fit it much more. Overall, nice design for South Beach
