The correct mounting place for most curtain rod installations is on the wall or on the ceiling depending on what kind of look you want and the conditions of your architecture. My company Campbell Ironworks specializes in curtain hardware, we're mostly a to-the-trade resource, but will gladly sell to private individuals, and all the advice you need is absolutely free. We are the manufacturer and can do custom projections and/or back plates.
