Source for fireplace covers
Sorry, I forgot the pictures in my earlier post:
I'm looking to replace the covers on two brownstone fireplaces (see pictures). Can anyone recommend a good source for these? (I've tried Eddie's in Clinton Hill and didn't find what I'm looking for.)
Also, can anyone recommend someone to install these replacements? What kind of contractor is best for this type of job?

Where is it written that brownstone prices have anything to do with teachers' salaries? Is it possible that teachers are permanently priced out of owning a brownstone in Brooklyn? Does anyone really believe that this is the metric that matters?

Cops drive the wrong way down Cambridge Place almost daily. I regularly see cops jumping red lights. The day before yesterday I watched a cop double park on Fulton St to get takeout food. All part of the same sense of entitlement.

OP here. We met Manny last week and it looks as though he has what we need. I'll let you know how we get on. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Thanks for the recommendation, Donatella. I just spoke with Manny and should see him later this week.

Hi,
We restored a marble fireplace in our brownstone and now we're looking for an iron rim to line the interior of the marble (or perhaps a cover)? The opening is 32 inches high and 28 inches wide. Any ideas?

PeB has superb croissants and some of the best ice coffee in the neighborhood. Can't speak for the savory offerings but if you haven't tried their croissants, you should.
