Norah Jones should show this to her neighbs in Cobble Hill and see if they still want to whine about her adding windows.
This is "I threw up in my mouth" ugly. And then it leaked outside.

Touche, Mrs. Chicken (and really, it is the one thing that grosses me out - I wouldn't go near them). In any case, how were the lumpia?

Can Arkady PLEASE (pretty please, with sugar on top) change her name to something else?
1) Confuses the hell out of Russian speaking peeps as it's a men's name
2) Confuses the hell out of peeps who read any Russian lit as it's a men's name
3. OMG, my god-given name is Arkady! So STOP (please) using it.
4. Yeah, I totally understand, if you are to be played by Chloris, you can call yourself whatever you want.

The Teat lounge? Sorry, Amy Sohn has ruined that place for me forever.
Regardless, I was actually happy when the 7th Ave location closed, because instead of crappy coffee I can now get mediocre bahn me.

I drive on Ocean Parkway frequently (in-laws in Brighton Beach) - and I am so pleased that people are giving this mostly a thumbs up. Yes, it's completely over-the top wedding-cake extravaganza. But still, like a breath of fresh air compared to 500 4th or the Crest or the Argyle.
And Benson is completely right - this is a SOLID building.

This will be sold out to the Sy - and while not my taste, I'd rather see this on 4th Ave than the crap that has sprung up there.

Damn, you skip a day of lurking, and something exciting happens - except nobody wants to talk about it.
Whatever... How about that Letterman thing? Very weird. Seriously, who would have sex with him? I guess Kissinger was right (gag, heave)...

BSD, those kinds of comments are reserved for DIBS!
BTW, DIBS, what's the food scene like in BS?
Posted by: bupe at October 1, 2009 4:05 PM in response to Longtime Thai Restaurant in the Slope Shutters
Girls, girls, stop fighting! There is good food everywhere - and it's all within walking distance. There are like eight Thai restaurants I can think of on 5th AND 7th.
Somebody recently said that Korean would be the new Thai - I am still waiting!

This is a dead end with the cemetery on one side of the street - so no keen loss of parking will be felt... And those who do need it, will be parking in the townhouses anyway.

I've called people on letting their dogs leave deposits on sidewalks - usually works, but I try to be polite about it - along the lines of "We try to keep the block beautiful for everyone, blah, blah..."
But 3 pitties - that's a whole lot of shit!
Posted by: bupe at September 25, 2009 11:44 AM in response to Dog Pooping in Front of House
Ah, The Atrocity called The Juliette... A few doors down, from same developer, is equally ugly (but in a different way) is The Camelot.
Yeah, this block sucks ass - there is a crazy old lady (in addition to all the kids playing ball, which is totally fine by me), who smokes outside all day long and yells at people who walk their dogs, "How would you like it if I came over to your house and took a shit at your place!?! Your dog is supposed to go on the curb".
I ask her (sometimes politely, sometimes not) to move some cars so there is room for my dog to go on the curb.
Back to the point, at least one unit at the Juliette has been sold and is now occupied.

A friend lives in a Norten building in the city (where the architect himself had an apartment as well). Apparently, EN likes to drink and drive (I am talking to you, Kens), and smashed his car into the automated garage thingie, crippling it for days and leaving people without their cars to get them out of town to the "beach." EN has since moved out of the building.

Yeah, the crazy wife part is just based on a bad personal experience...
But Bill De Bla Bla (if he wins) will have bought that position with very unsavory corporate donations from developers in his district.

Bill de Blaba (whose pockets are lined with money from 4th Ave developers) hopefully will lose big in the run-off for public advocate. This man has no business advocating for anyone except himself and the crazy wife in the ads.

If only DDDB didn't delay this until everybody had no cash... If the project had been started on time, there would have been hard cash spent already - and the numbers could have been a bit different.
Again, go DDDB! As in, go away!!!

smeyer418, the De Young Museum in San Francisco is a rust-colored building that's amazing, blends in with the environs (the GG park), and doesn't bleed - might be worth a visit just to check it out for architecture alone (the art collection is OK).

God, I hope the book flops and they will never make a series out of it. And if they do, they should film it all in Brooklyn Heights.

DIBS, most of the people you have sex with have a genetic deificiency that renders them pretty much incapable of processing alcohol. The Latinos are pretty good at handling their booze, though.
And Kens, what's your tolerance - how much Vodka do you have to drink before you consider yourself unfit to drive?

Miss Placed here. It's amazing how OT can either have 100 posts by this time, or a measely 30.
Anybody actually read that Park Slope "Sex and the City) knock-off?
I had a huge fight with Park Slope Parents over their posting rules, and left the site. A few people emailed me privately and said how they didn't want to get kicked out, but supported my point of view (it was about a crazy accupuncturist woman who kep posting autism-vaccine links. That kinds of stuff drives me nuts.)

Check this out:
http://salestores.com/frigid204.html (obviously, you can go up from there, but it gives you an idea that a lot of ranges come with the warming drawer - that can also double as storage for ciggies or will do in a pinch as an ashtray).
Posted by: bupe at August 19, 2009 4:15 PM in response to StreetLevel: New Mexican Restaurant for the South Slope
Draft Barn - NICE (and I don't even like beer that much).
Gem - it's a little drawer that's actually standard in most drop-in ranges (people just use it for storage because they don't read the manual). For built-in ovens, sometimes it's standard, sometimes optional (ours was one big unit that included oven, the drawer, and a microwave - did I mention that I am not a great cook and having two ovens would have been utterly stupid?)
And I happen to love some places enough to call them spectacular: Al Di La, Applewood, Convivium, Blue Ribbon come to mind...

11217, you and I are totally on the same page re Park Slope as a food destination.
And for the record, Rob, I eat in restaurants because 1) I am a foodie, and 2)my cooking leaves a lot to be desired (something's missing in the gay gene. I am also a slob). And if that's not enough, I have a really nicely equipped kitchen as a result of a gut reno of a row house in 11215 - not an SRO condo (my warming drawer does a great job of keeping take out warm until the hubby comes home!)
P.S. Also recently tried #7 - meh. Have had better.

Ummm... Barrio (http://www.barriofoods.com/restaurants/barrio/) is from the former chef of Rosa Mexicana - and while they are a bit overpriced, their food is delicious. Sun brunch with unlimited sangria? I am there. Mon night with unlimited tacos and unlimited sangria for $20? Still there, trying to cure the hangover from Sun.
