for all those who think gun control is the answer, take a look at Russia.Citizens were never allowed to own guns period, during the Soviet era or after the fall of communism.last time i checked,Russia's murder rate is 5 times that of the US.

u people actually believe these fake ass stats?the NYPD has been fudging and downgrading crime stats since the early 90s
Posted by: buckfast at September 4, 2009 3:22 PM in response to Crime Map Offers Easy Access to Stats
11217 u r correct that murders r down in NYC from last year.but most discussions on here r about BK.and in Brooklyn murders r up from last year.so the What was right.crime is on the rise.the biggest uptick in homicides is in Brooklyn south

tybur6 is right.the middle class is shrinking in NYC.at this pace New York will become a city for the rich and the poor.(there will always be poor in NY because of so much public housing).im a contractor who does work all over the east coast.i have come across countless former New Yorkers in places like Allentown PA,Philly,Wilmington Del,all over northern and southern Jersey, and Maryland.all born and raised, and priced out of NY.

i didnt like ur characterization of bk residents outside of the brownstone belt.i know u were just making an example, but it still rubbed me the wrong way.i still should not have came at u the way i did.i apologize

god,u r such a F'N wannabe tybur6."$40,000/yr social worker that rents?Nope. They dont live in the Brooklyn that most here have in mind" Who the hell r u to characterize people like that.U r the exact type of an arrogant asshole transplant that most of us natives f'n hate.

hey JIPS,how the hell is it a "dubious assumption" to say that Park Slope is nicer than PLG?

can anyone clarify for me why the rents in in high crime hoods of north bk are more than they are in stable areas of the bk south.u can get a 2 bed. for $900 a months in CI.and dont give me proximity to manhattan either.

u dont know it as well as u think u do,benson
Posted by: buckfast at February 24, 2009 1:24 PM in response to Last Week's Biggest Sales
i thought u said u knew about the area benson.its absolutely not the same complex."beach haven" or what ever ur calling it,im pretty sure are the buildings closer to Ocean pkwy.i've bin to those buildings and they were much nicer inside than my building.if u were ever there,u would know that.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 6:57 PM in response to Open Thread
i didnt say i lived in them,i said down the street.less than a block away.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 6:29 PM in response to Open Thread
never heard that before benson.and never saw the big signs which u speak of.and i lived there for 6 years
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 5:25 PM in response to Open Thread
no they were white
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 4:57 PM in response to Open Thread
yes dave u r correct.im a the son of Ukrainian immigrants.but i dont care how much crime goes on there.we did nothing wrong,so why should we be forced up against the wall at gun point.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 4:48 PM in response to Open Thread
no benson.its not all one comlex.my building on W3rd st and ave Z didnt have a name as far as i can remember.and we sure as hell didnt know who owned it.maybe ur refering to the buildings on W2nd.they were alot nicer.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 4:43 PM in response to Open Thread
stop being so nieve dave, there were no perps."U MATCH THE DESCRIPTION" is some bs the cops always say after searching u. and as for benson, indeed u r correct about there not being any PJs at aveZ.im glad someones else on here knows something about brooklyn south besides me.but im still not sure about it technically being Gravesend.growing up there we always thought of it as CI.since its right between the train yard and coney isalnd hospital.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 4:30 PM in response to Open Thread
well dave i was at a friends apartment hanging out.when we decided to get something to eat.upon walking out of the building which happends to be in the Marlboro Houses complex.we got thrown against the wall with guns pointed at us,and tapped down.the cops said what they always say."u match the desciption"
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 4:06 PM in response to Open Thread
yes absolutely right benson.i moved to ave Z when i was 15.before that i lived at 31st street.dowm the street from Gravesend Houses.but im not sure if ave Z and shell road if considered Gravesend
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 3:56 PM in response to Open Thread
i think i already touched on it dave.peorsonal freedoms.like walking down the street without the pigs going in ur pockets.how many times have u bin stoped and frisked? and just every day things like being able to enjoy a couple of beers with ur friends in front of ur building.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 3:34 PM in response to Open Thread
well thats the difference between us cw.getting in a scuffle now and then did nothing to effect my quality of life or my every day mood.and as far as being able to "walk down the street at night without having to look over ur shoulder most of the time" might be somewhat true.(even thought u still have to be aware no matter where u r walking)but what did we have to sacrifice to get there.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 3:17 PM in response to Open Thread
actually dave,i do think like normal people.to me,normal people are the native brooklynites like me.something u obviously would know nothing about.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 2:58 PM in response to Open Thread
because cw.back in those days we had alot more personal freedom in the city of New York.as far as "rampant crime, drug abuse, and violence" it never effected my quality of life.i would mind my business, and when trouble found me,i would fight and fight hard. and im teaching my kids to do the same.believe me my kids arent gonna be the ones getting their asses kicked in school every day.im sorry to say im not sure thats gonna be the case for the kids of alot of the transplants.

Im a poser? i grew up in Coney Island BK.surrounded by public housing. where did u grow up? anytown usa? aka whiteville?
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 2:24 PM in response to Open Thread
which one of us is really bitter here dave? im staying in BK no matter what.the good and the bad.and did u call me a racist? i have more black friends than u can count.take ur old ass to bed,i think its time for a nap
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 2:09 PM in response to Open Thread
"11217-so thats 10 PEOPLE i know who are moving to Brooklyn starting march 1" yeah thats 10 more weaklings who r gonna get victimized as far as im concerned.u just dont get it, do u? Bk will never become the yuppie haven u all hope it will.why do u think there r more violent robberies in gentifying hoods like Williamsburg and Clinton Hill than there r in B'ville and East New York? stick up kids arent dumb.they know which ones to go after.and things r only gonna get worse.
Posted by: buckfast at February 16, 2009 1:44 PM in response to Open Thread
what the hell r u talking about DAVE? my friend just got a house in the kensington area of philly for 40k.i guess i dont really know about philly.300-400K? in Philly? i dont think so.
Posted by: buckfast at February 7, 2009 6:55 PM in response to It's Tough Out There for a Middle-Class New Yorker
yeah dave,im finaly agreeing with u on something.Philly $69,196 does not make any sense at all.not when u can buy a house there for 30-40k.and im not just talking out of my ass.i lived in philly and have a lot of friends who live there.i know plenty about the RE,and the quality of life there.

Posted by: buckfast at February 3, 2009 2:09 PM in response to Bushwick Goes National
no but i wish things were more like they were in the 80s and early 90s.dam NY was a great place.u could drink and get high on streets all u wanted, without being harassed by the law.only the weak would complain about crime.
Posted by: buckfast at January 30, 2009 7:45 PM in response to Open House Picks
hope ur not talking about my hood.C I is a great palce to live.

just trying to express how it feels to have the place whitch u love and call home, get gentrified, become insanely overpriced, and get disneyfied.
Posted by: buckfast at January 30, 2009 5:38 PM in response to Open House Picks
ur right.im not "throwing things out there" from research.im speaking from my heart.unlike u,i was born and raised in BK.seeing so many of my childhood friends and their families forced to move to all over the east coast, because of these insane ass prices, not only breaks my heart, but makes me wanna do some son of sam type shit.
Posted by: buckfast at January 30, 2009 5:01 PM in response to Open House Picks
well then 11217,quit trying to be the adversary every time, and agree with me that the price is laughable
Posted by: buckfast at January 30, 2009 4:38 PM in response to Open House Picks
so u would be willing to pay that much for Bay Ridge?
Posted by: buckfast at January 30, 2009 4:26 PM in response to Open House Picks
11217.i did not say Beverly Hills was a bargain.what im saying is that when u start comparing prices of Beverly Hilly, and Bay Ridge BK,and they look similar.something is very very wrong.
Posted by: buckfast at January 30, 2009 4:17 PM in response to Open House Picks
commenting on the Bay Ridge house.u do realize the same house would go for 500k in Queens, and maybe 1.5 mil in Beverly Hills.BEVERLY HILLS people, not Bay Ridge BK.THIS IS F'N INSANE!!!
Posted by: buckfast at January 30, 2009 3:45 PM in response to Open House Picks
i grew up on ave z next to the Coney Island Train Yard in the 80s.writers from all over the city would sneak in to put up pieces.what a great time it was to live in NYC.

oooh.sounds like i stuck a nerve 11217.sucks to be wrong, dont it.i cant wait to see what u will say in a year or two, when bk RE is down 20-25%
Posted by: buckfast at January 25, 2009 4:41 PM in response to Open House Picks: Six Months Later
i agree legion.when a crime happends on ur property or to ur property is one thing.but to go out of ur way and help the cops catch someone for beating down some other guy(who probably deserved it in the first place)is another.seems like ur a bit of a dogooder to me.the guy that u helped lock up,might just remember where u live.
