Just noticed today that the Le Petit Marche outlet on Hoyt (btwn Atlantic and State) is gone, along with Brawta. Pretty much every business on that side of the block, except for Victory on State and Hoyt, is shuttered.

Star of India was OK; no funny business going on there that I know of. Too bad about Brawta, which I'd always meant to try.

Is there any decent Chinese food in Fort Greene? Boerum Hill? The only decent place I know is in Park Slope, on Sixth and Union--too far from me. Those no-seating joints just look atrocious to me. You'd think with all the good restaurants here someone would take a chance on more upscale Chinese.

Terrific place. Always a pleasure eating there or taking food back home.
Makes me wish I lived in Hong Kong again, which has superior, up-to-date MTR service.

On the plus side, we went to a great wedding reception last summer--it's a nice locale for that, and everything was on the up and up. On the minus side, my wife and I had dinner there last December, and woke up with food poisoning the next morning. I doubt we'll be returning, unless another friend gets hitched there.

Hunan Delight is the only decent Chinese food in this area; all the joints with pictures of the dishes in the windows are awful. I just wish it was closer, or there were more places like it here in Boreum Hill/Fort Greene. Or are there more and I've missed them?
We also live on the "wrong" part of State Street, even "wronger," pretty much "wrongest" hanging out on Flatbush--and it's very right for us, too.

Today's wrath-of-God weather can only be a bad omen. Repent, Brooklyn Flea--repent.

Boerum Hill/Fort Greene could surely use a good Chinese restaurant. Or have I missed one in the area?
