Has anyone here participated or is currently enrolled in Con Edison's Time of Use program?
Is it working for you?
Are there hidden fees and what are the peak and off-peak KWH charges you've been seeing?

LP Gas Grill on a Balcony
I am considering buying a small LP gas grill for our small condo balcony in Bklyn.
Can anyone tell me:
What the city laws are regarding the use of an LP gas grill on a balcony in a multiple dwelling building?
My condo bylaws express nothing specific in this matter except an expression of refraining anything being done or kept that will increase the rate of insurance or the cancellation of insurance of the property. Is LP gas applicable to this bylaw?
What is "unofficial" law of the land? Don't ask, Don't Tell- keep the grill smoking to a minimum so your neighbor doesn't call the FD.

One thing to consider would be that if there were ever any problems then the insurance would not cover you should this be above ground level. chances are slim given how great these grills are but something to consider when using an illegal grill. You can't have one that's above ground level. Most places turn a blind eye to it but as I say, this will not be the case should there be a problem.

The FDNY has the law for bbq's on their website. The bbq needs to be located at least 11 away from the dwelling and you need an immediate source of water or a bucket of water - the fdny site has the size needed. I don't think gas grills are allowed at all on balconies but again check the site and the above poster is correct that if barbecuing is illegal and anything happens you pay for it.

Per FDNY:
"Never use a propane barbecue grill on a balcony, terrace or roof. It is both dangerous and illegal."
However charcoal is legit if you have a ginormous balcony:
"Only use a charcoal barbecue grill on a balcony or terrace if there is a ten foot clearance from the building and there is an immediate source of water (garden hose or four (4) gallon pail of water). Otherwise, such barbequeings is dangerous and illegal."

OP here,
yes, I would agree with you about the rudeness factor, but the balcony is situated on the top floor of a small buiding- well offset from any other owner's windows or balconies. It would not cause a disruption to anyone else's quality of life in that respect.
I just wanted to clarify that we have taken that into account as well.
