YEs you are missing something.
1. This place is in Windsor Terrace- Nuff said
2. The maintenance is $795
3. Look next to the TV- The kitchen is a dump. "Retro" isn't going to fool anyone

If Brooklyn Social is full of douch bags, then I wear the douche bag label with pride. And no, it is not a frat boy bar. for frat boys and meatheads go directly to Angry Wades or PJ Hanleys and drink yourself some Bud Light- Morons.

Thank god! A yarn shop- Exactly what the neighbourhood needs! Jeez... Please. I give this place 3 months maximum.

"we pedaled past this small memorial in front of 97B Vanderbilt Avenue"
PLEASE STOP... We didn't pass a small memorial. I mean really, how many people fit on your bike? The correct grammer on line or offline is "I passed a small memorial". Drop the we you sound like a 13 year old high school girl.

Food is below average, overpriced and the salsa tastes like someone took a piss in it- for real. Stay away.

This constant flea market stuff is getting very old. We get it- there are flea markets in Brooklyn. Move along please.

Common charges are crazy high in this building according to the web site. They're going to ahve a hard time unloading these.

Food is really good here. Funny thing is when you call to order sometimes it takes 5 minutres for them to pick up the phone, and sometimes they don't pick up at all. Seems a crazy way to run a business.
Cobble Hill location was always filled with laptop jockeys who never bought anything. Not a good way to run a business.

Personally I would have said nothing and see if it came back to bite me in the ass. In your case it looks like your movers f-ed up. I agree with the other post that mentioned that the movers insurance should cover the cost of a locksmith/ handyman to fix the door.
Now you've openeded your big mouth to everyone, just drop the super a 50 spot with your apologies.

Ill informed- Manhattanites go through Queens to get to the airport- Not Brooklyn for starters.
Also, the Daily Mail in England is a couple steps down from New York Newsday.

petebklyn- I walk this block everyday twice a day and it's a nice block but no nicer than similar Carroll Gardens / Cobble Hill side streets. You're acting like this is the Champs Elysees or something. Just from my own experience- I've lived on President Street and now on Cheever Place and both are far superioir to this block of Baltic.
Posted by: bobbyj at September 21, 2009 4:59 PM in response to Co-op of the Day: 242 Baltic Street, #17
Piece of cr@p. Needs a new kitchen. Living room has one window exposure(other taken by the bath room). Broker site blatantly lies claiming it's "new to the market" (how do they get away with that? Re-priced and new to the market are 2 completley different things). Nice block but one of nicest blocks in BK is a huge stretch.

4. operating in a gray area between being a store and a restaurant maybe?
5. For being French

I agree, total morons. Builing is in a flood zone and a prospective Superfund site. Apartment layouts are horrible, location is terrible, unless you like living in an industrial park. Enviromental safety is also questionalble- Wouldn't want to breed kids here.

Are you kidding Minard? Have you ever been on this block? The apartment is in downtown Bklyn- not Bklyn Heights. Yes it's conveinient for Popeyes and McDonalds and not far from the Fulton mall. I guarantee it won't even go in the 6's.

Horrible location, high maintenance. Looks cookie cutter, no moldings etc... Nasty paint job in bedroom and a kitchen that you need to walk through sideways to fit. Over priced too, only good if you need to be close to the unemployment office on Schemerhorn on a regualr basis.

Don't do go for the Pizza, go for the steam table. Chicken, veal, fish, veggies... all are awesome and well priced. I eat dinner here at least once a week.
That Cobble Hill 2 bed is a real piece of junk. Living room is the size of a postage stamp and the whole place would be small even for a one bed. Can't believe someone paid asking in this market for that. I guess there's a sucker born every day.

Jesus Christ, it's a flea market- get over it already. It's not that interesting.
Posted by: bobbyj at August 24, 2009 10:16 AM in response to Closing Bell: It's Alright to Flea
Simple- Good sales people and clueless first time buyers. Also, a lot of bait and switch tactics by same sales people concerning available apartments.
Floor plans are horrible and to get an idea of quality each apartment has $100 air conditioners from Circuit City. Block is ugly and accross the street from a school, not to mention the projects 100 feet away.
There will be plenty of buyers remorse here.

Do you know how stupid you actually sound?
"When we went to unlock our bike on Friday afternoon, it was literally buried underneath bags of garbage and recycling; when we went into Starbucks to follow up, we were told it was actually the dirty work of the condo building around the corner on Main Street"
Drop the royal "we" it sounds retarded normally, but especially retarded in this context. I mean how many of you own that bike? How many of you did it take to unlock it? We,we,we... Enough already!

Dumbo is hobbled by the LPC designation which will prevent the conversion of the many empty factory buildings to more practical sized spaces that normally comes with a pioneering neighborhood. Don't expect a pluthoria of new restaurants due to the inability to get ventilation to the roofs of these buildings. Dumbo is really just a bedroom community for middle level managers trying to start a family.

DUMBO isn't gritty.
Posted by: jessibaby at March 12, 2010 4:38 PM in response to Considering DUMBO
If you find the noise level to be ok, I wouldn't let the LPC designation affect your decision (I am referencing the comment above). They generally don't concern themselves with interior renovations in historic districts - converting a manufacturing building into residential units is a zoning issue. Anyway, it does seem a little sleepy at night - parts of Carroll Gardens or Gowanus might have more of that grit you are looking for.

"Anyway, it does seem a little sleepy at night"
Like I said a bedroom community.
Sorry, I should clarify. I meant the street level spaces in regard to the LPC designation. Although, interestingly enough we had to run interior plans on a 2nd floor office through LPC that was visible from the street in the Union Sq. district.

HVAC note on Clocktower...went in for complaints of smell over lapping from one resident to another and garbage smell in the lobby.what i found was the cooling was supplied from an air handler above the laundry room in each space supplied from a large chiller in the basement 45F water in the summer..typical unit for that style application.the overlapping of smells was a lack of the walls being sheetrocked up to the ceilings from one resident to another.so you had a guy relaxing with 420 and the next guy cooking as steak and the vegitarian getting the smells in her place the air handlers are open from the tiles in the ceiling and the filter section so the entire floor is the return for everybodies unit and the smells.the lobby smell was attributed to the cooling/heating air supply was from a unit in the penthouse but the intake for the fresh air to it was next to the exhaust of the garbage disposal room

dumbo? gritty? Heh. If you think brunch is the grittiest meal of the day, or the M-series is the grittiest BMW, or Thos. Pink has the grittiest shirting out there, then perhaps. Otherwise, dumbo is 100% triple-aught, baby.
While noise might be an issue, I'd be more wary of the pervasive black crud that seems to be airborne from major roadways. When I lived on smith/9th, we had constant disgusting soot from the BQE, and I'm certain it knocked down my lung capacity.

I used to work in 70 Washington before it was converted and it was extremely loud with the windows open. I honestly wouldn't want to be inhaling all that bridge exaust either. Move to a nice neighbourhood like Cobble Hill or Carrol Gardens. There's nothing open at night in dumbo either.
