FG restaurant developments
Wandering if anyone out there has some info on any of these restaurant observations:
-is the name of the place going in at Lafayette and Cumberland now "EN"? What type of cuisine will this be?
-Anything going in at the old Location Location Location space on Dekalb near Bittersweet and the laundromat?
-what's going in on Dekalb beside Bonita where the scaffolding is?

Rooftop access revoked!
So I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a similar situation/knows of what recourse should be taken:
My roommate and I have currently lived in our newly-rennovated 2 bedroom in Fort Greene for one month.
We were told numerous times by the broker that the apartment came with rooftop access (on the day of the open house, he was directing people upstairs to the roof!) and even verbally admitted by telephone that he did, indeed, advertise that it came with rooftop access.
Two weeks ago, we went upstairs to find the door to the roof locked.
The landlord states that the insurance premiums on the roof are too high and it's dangerous.
The landlord's addendum to the standard lease (you know, the one written in 1958 that practically everyone uses) states that we would be held responsible for any damage to the roof...
doesn't this presuppose access to the roof?
Shouldn't the landlord either pay the higher premium, reduce our rent, or give us a key?
Or is the broker liable and we should go to small claims court for his broker's fee.
Help, please!

Lovely! It'll be good to infuse a little life into the FG Park stretch of DeKalb.
I agree with S&L - a little light outside would go a long way. How long does a buildout of something like this usually take?
Now if only we could get something into the Cellars space. A gay bar, perhaps.

that's a mighty lofty statement for a business that has yet to open.

i think this is just one in a long line of terrible rennovations in the neighborhood.
i have to say there's been a general decline in taste level when it comes to new establishments opening up. i realize this makes me sound a bit snooty, but it seems as though one after the other, each place is gaudy and cheap.
EN Restaurant anyone? Ew.

it's a shame, that space has a beautiful outdoor area.
this would've made a great bar spot.

yessss! I really hope this is a sign that the retail parade will turn that corner and march down Fulton towards Flatbush. That is a horrible strip as is.

how funny -- i was thinking of ordering from here tonight.
there are some real jewels on myrtle. and there's something strangely beautiful about the streetlamps -- remniscent of smith street.
i think the major lacking element is sidewalk dining. i emailed the the BID a while ago to try and figure out why this was the case...but apparently there's enough space, just not enough restaurants take advantage of it (and i believe the license is expensive).
i don't mind bodegas here and there, though i agree the product v. price is staggering. i just don't understand the need to have 3 on the same block, and moreover, how they stay in business...

agree with the other's negative experiences. e.d.'s broker simply ignored every one of our basic requests for typical apartments we wanted to view. one after another after another. it was a total, total waste.

@11217 - completely agree. the place looks horrible and uninviting - serious missteps with decor and design.
and i really, really, REALLY can't look past that boy scout project known as an awning.
