The person who led the opposition is now the Executive Director of the Open Space Alliance which is fairly developer-friendly so I think, unfortunately, the neighborhood has lost its champion.

I'm with lalaland. $650,000 to replace street lights that are in working order? I can think of about 800 better uses.

It's fascinating that both those for it and those against it are saying their position is "for the children."

There have been later reports subsequent to that *one unconfirmed* report that say that it was a group of kids, under 20, mixed white and hispanic.

I live in Williamsburg and I see people of all ages and races setting off illegal firecrackers every year. It's too bad people can't focus on substantive issues, like the fact that this fire was literally across the street from a firehouse Bloomberg closed, instead of getting on their hobbyhorse about hipsters.

It's Bedford between N 11 and N 12.

And there are not stop work orders because of the EPA. There are stop workers when developers and construction crews break the laws concerning environmental remediation. And enforcement on those laws by the DOB or anyone else is completely laughable.

The people are lovely, but you have to really like crepes because that is pretty much all they have.

If the noise is indeed bad, then of course these people deserve relief. I think what many people are reacting to is the tone of entitlement and arrogance in the flyers and that the person who has launched this effort doesn't seem to have bothered to see if there any any neighborhood quality of life groups he could have plugged into. Maybe attending a Community Board meeting or one of NAG's organizing meetings would have resulted in a better outcome and a less confrontational process.

I live nearby and used to practically live there, because I loved the food and the ambiance. RTR was great for many purposes--a solo dinner of soup at the bar, a romantic dinner, brunch with friends, lunch with someone from the city--but I finally grew tired of the truly truly agonizingly awful service and had to give it up. I put years into you, RTR! But you did me wrong one too many times.

DH, your revision is delicious! kudos.

They have close to nothing for vegetarians, unusual at a place serving Mexican food.

Top Chef apt is next door.

It's right by Dumont, not Dumont Burger. DB isn't that far, but it is on Bedford. Dumont is on Union.)

People who grow vegetables in this neighborhood do it in pots and raised beds.

They should just reclaim this site and N 12th and extend the park.

I don't think the Gutter is that popular. It is super expensive and you have to wait forever, and there is no food. It's almost like the put the lanes in in order to hold you hostage in the bar. The new place seems to be thought out much better, and has more lanes.

Illegal clubs, etc: expensive to bust and to prosecute.

BYOB and people drinking on stoops: easy to bust and cash cow in fines.

Oddly enough, I have noticed that in recent weeks the disparity between the times posted on the electronic billboard, the ones being announced by the robot, and the arrivals and departures of actual trains has greatly increased. It's like 3 different time tables, but figuring out if one of them might be right helps the wait go by.

There will be restrooms no matter what for those who are using the pool or the gym or the rec center. The question is whether there will be a restroom open to the greater public using the park. Hope that is clear. --Mikki/Poolaid.org

This is welcome, though as werner pointed out, there are multiple other places to see movies in Williamsburg/Greenpoint--Union Docs, East Coast Aliens, Hugs, etc., as well as outdoor screenings in the summer.

It would be great if this place got a wine/beer license. There are some arthouse cinemas in Portland that let you have a drink and it is soooo nice.

@traditionalmod: I used to live right by there! Also lots of cute cottages throughout West Hollywood, though they don't quite qualify as tiny. Love that area.

I'm kind of laughing at the idea of buying a tinyhouse and putting two more stories on it. Kind of defeats the purpose.

THen I call 311.

I'm all for protecting neighborhood spots but agree that Farrell's shouldn't be too mythologized. It's pretty well-known as a racist, homophobic place--very old skool! Also is where a lot of Muslim American beatdowns were administered after 9/11.
