Yeah, Thursday morning at about 3am the roof collapsed (across the street from my apt). I think it was abandoned anyway, so it's almost certainly coming down. My question: why do two dozen cops have to be stationed around the site at all times?! Budget deficit, anyone?

I've got to agree that EM beats Joya. Much more authentic. Joya's dishes are extremely sugary; EM's are savory and extremely well prepared. Love the Pla Mango!!
I had a delicious latte and a yummy, molasses-y cake there on Saturday. I'm a big fan of the simple but sophisticated decor and straightforward coffee & cake offerings. Margaret Palca looked shoddy - was never tempted to sit in there, though I definitely am with Pedlar. And I never saw anyone buy Palca's pre-cooked food. That was a lot of perishable inventory to have to keep in stock; surely a reason for their demise.
