Where to buy fish for pond?
Had 2 koi fish for years, but they disappeared last fall. Want to get some new fish for the pond, but think koi may not be the best choice (pond too shallow to provide protection from birds/raccoons). Any recommendations on where to buy pond fish in the NY area? Also looking to add some plants/flowers to the pond (some lillies maybe). I figure there are probably some places in Long or Staten Island that sell both. Any recommendations?

Next move: house or additional floor?
My gf and I keep debating our next move and can't seem to agree.
Current situation: we live in a duplex apt (parlor + above) in a brownstone coop in the Heights. Quiet street, great location, big backyard (accessed from the parlor floor via stairs). The building has a garden apt with finished basement, and 2 floor-thru apartments above us. The apartment is nice and airy (building is 25ft wide) with high ceilings. Not a lot of original detail left in the apt aside from the original fireplaces.
We're thinking of moving up into a bigger place if prices dip here.
The people living above us indicated they are looking to move in the near future since the apt is getting too small with the kids.
Here's the dilemma: do we look to buy a whole house (prob can only afford 3 stories + basement, 20ft wide unless we really really dip here) in a different location (ie. park slope, but maybe not prime prime park slope) or do we buy the apt upstairs and extend our staircase another floor?
I think the latter will result in same cost but would leave us in the Heights in an apt we love, but we'd still be living in a coop. The house idea seems nice (no neighbors above or below us), but we'd give up the prime location.
What do you all think? Is a triplex in a coop something that would be sellable in the future?

I'm excited the St. Viateur bagels are coming! Yay!

It could be a bird. Last year, I found a brand new Ipod shuffle (still in the box!) on our 3rd floor windowsill. Checked with all neighbors around and nobody was missing one.
It was later followed by a broken flip-phone and a couple of days later a golfball.
Later talked to a neighbor and apparently a hawk had been living in the trees...
After the hawk left, no more free gifts :(

You can find the conforming loan limits by county at http://www.ofheo.gov/media/cll/FullCountyLoanLimitList2009.xls. Breaks it out per product type.

Agree with the comments above. Food is outstanding, and service can be slow, but is always with a smile and a lot of effort.
LOVE the obanzai, it makes every visit a little different.
I am not a tofu person, but the Hibino tofu is delicious. Also try the beef kakuni, tastes like it's been stewing for days.
And lastly, the soy pudding dessert is to die for (craving it just thinking about it)
dylanfan-
they can only shut your line if the equity in your home has declined below a certain treshold (covered under "Regulation Z" as a min. 50% equity decline). Since you mentioned it is the only debt, they cannot shut off your line. If they try, you should appeal. But I would not draw on it just to keep it open in your case.

3000 sq ft? Where? How? The building is 27x53, so total sq ft could max be 2862. Subtract the stairwell to the apts above and you probably end up at 2000 sq ft.
Rich if you ask me.

ding = thing
dinges is a word often used in Belgium to basically say "and other stuff"

OP here: thanks for your comments so far.
Maintenance would jump to just over 2k for what would then be a 4BR apt.
We would indeed have majority of voting shares.
I do think it is likely the top floor could be selling in a couple of years, which makes this an attractive option to move up in space over time if we can afford it at that time. Garden is probably unlikely to move.

Biff, évidemment, I'd take Fairmount over St. Viateur (still have 2 in my freezer to get me through), but I'll take St. Viateur over none at all
