The confusion between Bay Ridge and Sunset Park may have come from the entire area once being called Bay Ridge.

Oh yeah, definitely call the cops. You need a police report anyway.

Become a nag at TLC and give it lots of press. Was it parked or was she driving? That makes a big difference with getting your insurance company to follow-up: No-fault versus their fault.

I'm glad to hear that everyone is alright. Maybe, with any luck, there were passengers in the taxi who don't succumb to the TLC "no snitching" idea.

A lot of people have happily used the coop Si Se Puede, run out of the Center for Family Life. The money goes directly to the women who clean. www.wecandoit.coop/

Crimsonson,

While that may be true, a lot of this type of development (at least in SP) is not homeowners building/renovating for themselves. It's turning family homes into four through eight unit rentals/condos.

The people doing the building couldn't care less about the integrity (aesthetic or structural) of the buildings around them. They won't be around to see the results.

southbrooklyn,

The posting does not say the original plan preserved views from the park; it states: "with the provisions of lowering the rezoning of 4th Ave from R7A with an affordable housing incentive (8 stories) to R6A to ensure the views from Sunset Park (from the park) to the harbor." Basically, that the CB asked for that as a change.

I'm sure you were talking about the eight story buildings going up on 4th and/or 5th Avenue and not 8th Avenue. I doubt 8th Avenue development will affect views from the park.

Granted, the run-down is far from objective, but nothing about this process has been objective. Thank you for caring enough about the neighborhood to get involved. (And just ignore P's ignorance about the neighborhood.)

FYI: The Borough Park link is off; it directs to the charter school article.

Slope Park on 6th Avenue and 19th (mentioned above) is just fine. It has swings, a toddler and a big kid play area, and a water sprinkler (obviously, seasonal).

Jonesy,

I'm with you on the Gowanus and the condition/price, but that area is not a desert regarding food. Even 4th Avenue has some decent eating options, at least for Latin food. There's lots of take-out, and places tend to deliver farther than they do in areas with more restaurants. 5th and 8th have lot of options.
