mopar: it would make sense to use the Utica A express stop, which is only 8 or 9 blocks away.

Overall very nice house. Almost feel like the house was over-improved for the location (not that I love all of the choices, a little fussy in places for my taste), though. Maybe the sellers intended to be there longer.

What ever happened with the Spencer development down the street? Did they eventually get their C of O?

And yet Stuyvesant Heights has been a landmarked district since 1971...

bedstuyhoya: there is also a market on Saturdays in the summer on Lewis between Decatur and Macdonough (across from Bread Stuy). It's city-sponsored (like all the other green markets), but has a youth component.
And I actually think this is part of the problem. Can the neighborhood suddenly support *two* fledgling markets on the same day? Why didn't they team up to do it together? I've been a huge supporter of the other market, which has been slowly improving over the years. Am I supposed to walk there to buy something, and then walk to the other market to support it too? Someone really didn't think this one through.

I was just wondering if we'd eventually get feedback on these appraisals vs. actual selling price. Will be interesting to watch!

There are lots of young families in Stuy Heights, and there is quite a bit going on. There is story time at the book store (mentioned above), Music for Aardvarks classes, the public library on Lewis recently renovated and has great spaces for kids. The Stuy Heights parents' association is also getting more active and planning events. But it's not the kind of place where everything will be readymade for you. There's a lot of room for participation and new ideas and energy.

DIBS: Sorry but how is it 6 1/2 blocks? That would only get you to Decatur, and as far as I know there is not subway entrance there.
