Paint Stripping?

I'd love some advice on paint stripping.

In terms of doors--is Big Apple Stripping still in business? I got their name off an earlier post, but after 3 calls to voice mail, I'm beginning to give up.

Those of you who used East Side Wood Stripping, did you pay the extra for sanding? Or how were they without sanding?

Has anyone used the "Silent Paint Stripper?" I'd love to do much of this myself, but I assume there has to be lead and don't know how freaked out to be. Thanks!

I'm doing the same thing right now (although I don't know what ribbon bottom is, so ask them if they can handle that).

I looked at Malga Sales and the Bathtub Doctor.

Malga Sales was recommended by the real estate agent that sold me the apartment. Bathtub Dr. I found off Angie's List.

Both offered to remove paint inside the tub, fix cracks and add primer. Malga does 3 coats of top layer, Bathtub Dr. two coats of top layer. Malga was a 3-year guarantee. Bathtub Dr. a five. Bathtub Dr. got a "B" on Angie's List. Malga was 450, Bathtub doctor was 525. Malga was recommended, and was cheaper.

Malga Sales 718.258.8520.
BATHTUB DOCTOR INC: (516) 931-8311

I've also heard that having a fiberglass liner is a great way to go, but I couldn't find anyone in the city that does it.

Good luck!
