So many of us called 311 to complain about the awful noise that DOB finally ordered the tarps removed from the site. According to the DOB rep, who was present at the tarp removal the other day, there's new financing for this project and they plan to resume construction in the "next few weeks."

This was basically the only Thai choice, along with Lemongrass, on 7th when I moved to the neighborhood in 1992. The food has always been mediocre, but I was impressed by the places's longevity and rooted for it to survive.

Why is no one mentioning Taro? It is, in my opinion, the most authentic sushi in PS, closely followed by Blue Ribbon (If BR wasn't so expensive, I'd say they were equals.)

I am sorry, but all those spots on 3rd Ave are kind of lame (except for I haven't been to the beer bar.)

I do remember, years ago, 7th Ave was the main strip in the Slope, the it switched to 5th; now there seems to be some sort of a tug-of-war between the two streets. Good! We could use two restaurant rows.

OMG! Mr. B, I usually trust your visual evaluations of local architecture, but I swear something was awry with your site when you examined this photo. I am not sure if this building belongs in Syria, Bangkok or Staten Island (I hope not,) but it certainly does not belong in Brooklyn. After we all enjoy our long laugh all we will be left with is an ostentatious eyesore.

I've been to all of the buildings on Tiffany and #1 is by far my favorite. It's well-kept and well-staffed. The apartments themselves are nice blank slates. $725K for a one-bedroom is outrageous! I would think somewhere between $550K and $600K would be a more reasonable price, although the parking spot is definitely a big bonus. On the other hand the listed agent for this apartment actually lives in this building herself, so she should know how much she could sell the place for better than most. It's hard to tell from the photos, but I think the bedroom overlooks BQE, which is a constant din, unless the place has sound insulating windows. The apartments facing Tiffany would be more desirable, in my opinion, although with less light on the lower floors. This should be interesting to follow for sure.

This is sad. WF would've been a perfect addition to the neighborhood.

Great news! There're no decent grocery shops in the area at all. I shop at UM on Union weekly, they are sometimes pricey, but the selection and quality is top notch.

It looks like they're having some sore of a soft opening. Just walked by there an hour ago. There were a few cold cuts and cheeses in the counter, but for the most part the place looked empty of product and people. It's a tough location, since there's really no foot traffic on that block, aside from after school hours. (The hot dog spot and the old diner down the street are always painfully empty.) Perhaps once the hideous hotel opens up, the cheating husbands and their mistresses will be getting hungry for soups (the sign says Hale & Hearty) and sandwiches. Once the place is stocked I'll be eager to test it out.
