Animal Living in the Wall

Help! For the past 4 nights my husband and I have heard scratching coming from one of our bedroom walls. Over the past couple of days it has gotten worse...we now have to sleep in the living room. The sound is almost like a scratching followed by a swirling sound (I know, weird). Does anyone have any idea what type of animal this is? We live in a co-op and the management company told us "dont worry it will get bored and leave after a while". I don't think that is going to be the case. Anyone have this problem before..if so, what type of animal was it and how did you remedy it.
THANKS!

I just ate at Yellow Hook last Friday and acually thought the food was great. We just got bar food, nothing special, but thought it was delish. Just my opinion.

I pay $60 for a 650s/f apt and she comes twice a month. I do not have her do laundry.

InvestorLlew, while what you say is true, if there is not an active broker holding BKed license then its not a valid license. Anyone can go to school and take the exams and pass, BUT unless BKed walked into a real estate firm and ask them to hold his/her license and they agreed to sponso them, it isnt valid, and therefore they are not an active real estate agent and are not permitted to collect commissions.

Your license is void if there is not a broker holding it for you. So unless you have a broker holding your license you can't collect any commission.

These rentals are in NYC, not Bklyn...I just called up about them. Seems that StreetEasy has it wrong.

"All the homes (11 of them, ahem) have doors in place of where windows ought to be. Guess what they had in stock at Home Depot was cheaper than special order."

I think the doors are there because they allow the owners to have an entire window of walls but still have the abililty to have fresh air come in because that middle window is way to big to be opened and closed. Very though out by the developer if you ask me.

Why would real estate agents hate a site that gives their properties more exposure?
Everyone knows not to take what people write on these sites as the "final word"...so all it does it give more exposure to the listings.

HouseHunt: You say that "The workmanship is utter crap, and the model already shows it" yet in your next post you say "I bet there are excellent appliances in every unit and beautiful, expensive handles on the doors" which shows that you havent been in the homes or the model unit. So my question is how can you make such statements about a place that you have never walked through before? Why dont you go see the places before you make such stupid statements.

If your broker doesn't seem to understand what you like...then why would you want him/her to go see the apartment/house first and then decide if he/she should bring you? Makes no sence.

Heather, which units did you look at because all the units I looked at the bedrooms had windows in them. I also liked the 2 bathrooms because my husband leaves for work much earlier than I do, so I wouldn't have to hear him getting ready. Not "overrated" at all in my book....actually a selling point for us.

WOW!!!! That is a deal!!! 700 s/f coops on Shore Road range in the mid 200's to mid 300's. I would jump on this before someone else does!

Why would you base your bid on what the people bought the apartment for a few years back? Seems kind of foolish.
Base your bid on your comfort level and local comparables.

Is this a 1 BR or Studio?

Househunt:
Why do you think its the brokers who are pricing everything? Wouldn't you say its the owners who ultimitaly decide where their property is priced?

I think a lot of people are commenting about this house in Bay Ridge and have never been over to the area where this house is located. Yes, maybe you have been to 3rd or 5th avenue for dinner a few times, but where this house in located is a completely different feel. The homes on these blocks are STUNNING!!!!! Absolutely stunny!!! I drive by sometimes to just look at them and dream. There was a house over there on the market about 6 months ago for $4M. Homes on those blocks sell for million dollar prices.

LOVE THIS PLACE!

Hi Househunt!
I was at the house today and thought other than the basement, which we would finish somewhere down the line, the house was in good condition. After some paint and updating the kitchen and bath at some point...we thought it has nice potential. Loved the details!!!
Plus the house next door is on the market for $1.35M!!! I dont think this house needs $400K worth or work...or maybe I am off on this.
What did you think?

Its really smart to cut the Fire & Police...more nonsence in our neighborhoods is the way to get this place back up on its feet again!
Ya know...we should get some more waterfalls around here, now that would help!

Once again Brownstoner has gotten it wrong!
If someone actually took the time to READ THE ARTICLE, they would see the whole story about Lofts on Lex (the above picture). This building is ABSOLUTELY NOT “blacklisted”, and its WRONG for Brownstoner to make assumptions that it was/is/or ever will be, when in fact, one of the units has already closed with 4 more closing by the end of this month.
Again, if someone would have taken the time to read the ENTIRE ARTICLE, and not just pull pieces from where they want to make their story go in the direction they wanted it to, they would see that banks are lending to this building and will continue to without the necessary 51% sold.

I think blogs are a great way for people to express their opinions about certain topics…but when the moderators are making assumptions that some people might quickly look and take as fact and picking quotes from here and there from people to twist their words…that is neither beneficial to the people reading them and just plain WRONG!
