This looks like it was built by the same terrible architect who through-up 117 Underhill Ave right across the street. Just think, 50 years from now, some people in the neighborhood will be fighting tooth and nail to preserve the look of this garbage as it reflects the end of the ot's decade.

It's probably too close to Brooklyn Tech for a regular bar. I hope landmarks goes along with them as they hopefully help clean up this storefront. Some outdoor lighting would be great along this stretch.

Zach,
Great double post. This is a welcomed addition to the hood. Another bodega RIP.

Chris,
At one point Morton's and Buffalo Wild Wings weren't in this market. There's a first for everything.

If TGIF went out 5 years ago, why would they take another crack at it now?

They have run this story so many times. My guess is The Cheese Cake Factory since that name has been dropped in the past. I'd love to see it happen, but I just don't see how they make it work unless Muss is going in as partners. For the 2,000 SF, perhaps Five Guys.

I don't fully understand how you qualify a price as stupid or inflated. It's not like we live in Kansas where you're essentially buying the cost of the materials. The only way to quantify price in the city is based on how much people will pay for it, demand. I will never understand you people.

It's going to be a Thai restaurant brought to you by an operator of a thai restaurant on Court Street south of Atlantic.
Posted by: Shoots and Leaves at October 30, 2009 3:08 PM in response to Streetlevel: New Restaurant Coming to 723 Fulton Street
Yeah, that is definitely Prospect Heights. I'd say Washington Avenue and beyond is where the line starts to get blurred. I feel bad for the grocery operator who recently purchased the business on the corner and did a nice job with the renovation and general upgrade of products. Not super highend stuff, but nice.

It would have been perfect for BuyBuyBaby. If only it were about 20,000 - 30,000 SF bigger.

Yes, a pretty impressive run indeed for a 2nd floor space. I agree with everyone that it was mediocre at best. Next on the chopping block has got to be that 2nd floor mexican place on 7th Avenue in Park Slope. Subpar.

Didn't like the service. Not great food either. I had some special online offer from coupons.com or something, and when I was unable to use it because of some fine print, I got a smug look from the server.
If you have the financials for an $800K apartment, why would you ever choose to live on 4th Avenue at 11th Street? I don't care if it's 2,000 SF.
Posted by: Shoots and Leaves at September 16, 2009 1:46 PM in response to Condo of the Day: 500 4th Avenue, #PHG
I saw that space being marketed for sale/lease a year ago, so I'm guessing they are on their way out. I'm guessing the 3rd generation has better things to do than run a diner in Park Slope.

I believe they are the people who lend money at a nice % to post bail for people who can't afford it. If the person flees, it's up to them to track down the money.

I think the answer is no, you cannot. You have to have an active license, and it has to be with a broker. Also, I don't think in general you can represent yourself in the transaction. Not 100% on the last part.
Posted by: Shoots and Leaves at September 2, 2009 2:03 PM in response to Co-broking for Myself
Sloper, do you mind if I ask where your 1-br is and how much they are asking? Just general cross streets. I'm in a 2-br and wondering about other options in the area.

This must be the worst possible location. Right next to the BQE onramp and the projects. No public transit or retail in area.

Just curious, what are your cross streets in Prospect Heights? I have a 2br as well with a lease coming up. Paying slightly more on Underhill and Park Pl. Relatively newly renovated ground floor.

The first step anyone should take is to search the person's name in the city data base to see if they have a real estate broker or sales license. If they dont, then they are legally not entitled to collect a fee.

You can't just have "plans to oust locals in favor for higher-paying suburbanite baby-boomers moving back to the city." It's not like Goldman Sachs owns some baby-boomers that they can just stick in that part of the world. There would need to be some demand.

Stupid Time Out. Anyway, I can weigh in on non-brunch items since I've never been there besides brunch. I've never felt sick or sluggish after eating there. Very friendly service.
There's 24,000 SF of retail that will help bridge the gap between Boerum Hill and the Heights.

The beauty with this building is that they could put up whatever, and it would be an improvement over the Rubber Stamp building.

All I know that they had been marketing their lease for sale with key money, so it's gotta be a restaurant/bar and it's very unlikely that they are involved. Their brunch in the Slope is great though.

Whatever you want to call it, it's in Prospect Heights and Chowhound yourlittleshark says, "It's vegan pan-Asian, owned by the same folks as Wild Ginger."
This is not by the same people who do Wild Ginger. I heard they ripped off their menu and recipes, but it does taste very similar and very good. The inside is also very nice. I just wish they didn't put up that ugly sign. It looked classier before. Maybe they thought it was deterring people from coming in who thought it would be too expensive?
Smudge, as pointed out by MGW, Bedford and Atlantic are still very close in size even though 3 miles of it in Queens. Even when you include the portion in Brooklyn, Bedford is still slightly longer, therefore, it is the longest street running through Brooklyn.

Dave,
I'd guess they were failing and couldn't hang in there. I don't think Pintchik would kick out his tenant knowing that he has signs up on 8 other properties in the area. Just my opinion.

Are we just naming restaurants that exist in our neighborhood now? Not to be Mr. Negative about other people's posts, but Mitchell's was very disappointing. I went there when it first opened. They have an amazing space, but the service was slow and the burger I got tasted like deli burger. You know, the stuff that sits in the front of the store with the cold cuts and is drenched in some special sauce?
There should also be a most disappoiting restaurant of the week post. j/k
For the most part, all of the restaurants that I've been to that have been listed are excellent.

Cheryl's Global Soul has by far the best pancakes I've ever had. Everything is amazing there, but the pancakes are something else. It's on Underhill Ave in Prospect Heights.

Brooklyn Bread in Carroll Gardens/Park Slope/Bay Ridge. I've never had such a strong reaction to a sandwhich. Best sandwhich I've ever had.

I'm not sure if anyone explored Busy Chef, but they actually have a large courtyard in the back. Perhaps you'll see the picnic tables with Red and White umbrellas in the back of the building.

I know for a fact that they are taking that space. They have been pursuing that part of Court Street for a couple of years now, and they finally found themselves a home.

Posted by: Shoots and Leaves at March 26, 2009 10:23 AM in response to The Be@Schermerhorn Price Cuts We've Been Waiting For
Everyone assumes on the way down that there is always more room to drop just like when the market is on the way up that prices will continue going up. Smart people decide to buy when the price makes sense to them. These seem pretty reasonable. Efficient layouts. Livingston Street is not so appealing right now, but it could change. Not only that, you're convenient to Fort Greene and Boerum Hill.

Not really sure what's coming, but if I had to guess based on the recent trend, I'd say MetroPCS. First, Verizon and T-Mobile just opened up right around there. Second, MetroPCS is opening up all over the place. Thoughts?
