The mandate from Marty Markowitz and the EDC is to "RESTORE THE THEATER TO A WORKING THEATER". It is truly a stunning interior and wonderful piece of history from when Flatbush Avenue was the Madison Avenue of Brooklyn... and if Marty can get this done, he might not go straight to Hell for Atlantic Yards, just spend a couple hundred of years in Purgatory. (then back to hell if he lets Thor Equities screw up Coney Island!)... But THIS, this is a good thing... hope they can pull it off and we're NOT looking at a chopped up space ten years from now... Check out the video at EDC: http://www.nycedc.com/video/LowesKingVideo/brooklyn.mpg

You could take the Q Train. Northern end of Victorian Flatbush get off at the Church Avenue stop, exit front of train, make a right out of the station and proceed to Buckingham Road, make a left into Prospect Park South.
Here's a good map of the areas of interest:

It's not Ditmas Park West, and its not Ditmas Park as AH has on their site, but Caton Park... and of course AH knows better since Huebener lived right next door in PPS for years. Everyone from the New York Times to many of the realtors call all of Victorian Flatbush "Ditmas Park" which is unfortunate. Calling Caton Park "Ditmas Park" is like calling Prospect Lefferts Gardens "Park Slope."

Anonymous 10:59: No, Never Enough! These are a plague. And the plague has nothing to do with low income housing. Check the prices of a new Fedders Building. The plague has to do with greedy, ignorant "developers" lining their pockets at the communities expense.
Anonymous 2:48: Ihatefedders.com = ilovebrownstones.com They are intrinsically linked.

Smacks of not just laziness, but ignorance, greed and, oh the list is endless. Look at the new windows! How much did they cost, $50?
Brownstoner, couldn't you build a site in your media empire that outs all the horrible architects, developers and contractors that are involved in these projects by name and company. Not that any of them seem to have any shame... but.

Well certainly a thousand times better than the standard fedders, BUT... the front balcony thing really is obnoxious, nice for the owners, but ugly for everyone from the street... these front balconies are turning up all over... some kindof beach condo aesthetic? So that's a shame. Then there's the entrance... hey you've come this far, how about a nice door and basement entrance? And perhaps most egregious, what's with the garden state brickface cinder block on the rear (and the side?). Looks like a prison.

If true, an $800K bump is steep, BUT, 1) it would've been a steal @ $1.177 and, again the entire hood is still, but certianly was then, EXTREMELY underpriced. This is a beautiful, historically intact, pristine, up-to-date house on a great block in a Landmarked neighborhood.
If we cut it down to 25' wide, brownstoned the front facade, bricked in the sides and abutted it to the neighbors you'd be talking about what a deal it was!
Wish I could trade up!

I kind of like the way it looks, but imagine if its a brownstone, it might be a bit much... it would look great with a case study house tho'...
And wow 8', now I understand why one might want that height, but can't believe you've gotten away with it...
Also isn't it the rule that you put the less attractive side of the fence facing you, the fence builder, that is the side with the posts... Unless this is double sided, it could look more like barracks from their side?
But if you're getting away with it... it does make a statement.
