PS, "commonly belived" is consistent with "I've seen it done dozens of times...." My staff researched this by telephone, so no link immediately at hand. I find your example interesting since the inquiry we responded to was not regarding an eating or drinking establishment.

Your observations about enforcability of a variety of laws are not uninformed. And every once and a while double-parkers get blitzed and then howl. Everyone is free to make their own decisions. I decided to share what I learned recently about giving away alcohol.

PS, that's not true, although commonly believed. My office recently researched this in response to a constituent inquiry about another establishment.

I just got off the phone with the architect (on another issue). He informed me that the wall was unsafe and not salvagable. The mosaic will be reconstructed using new materials to match the original design, he told me.

And the winner is ... East New York! Johnny, what do we have for all our contestants?

The Department of Design and Construction had the contractor make these temporary asphalt patches to expedite returning the street to two-way traffic and bringing back bus service on Fulton Street. Concrete sidewalks are scheduled to be installed this spring.

And I quote:

NYC Parks & Recreation is collaborating with the Pratt Institute to bring a new Greenstreet to your community at the corner of Lafayette Avenue & St. James Place. Come together with fellow neighbors and Parks Landscape Architects to share design ideas in an open public forum.

The event will be held on Saturday March 14, 2009 from 9:30am − 12:30pm at the Pratt Institute building of Higgins Hall South, Room 111.

Hosted by Parks Landscape Architect, Jeff Martin, the event will include:
• Presentations Concerning DPR Site Goals
• Discussions of Potential Design Plans
• Brainstorming and Collaborative Design Sessions

Don’t miss this chance to contribute to the design of YOUR COMMUNITY GREENSTREET.

Everyone is Welcome!

Two-way traffic will be reinstated after the lane markings are installed. Resumption of the standard bus routes, however, is probably still a few weeks away.

sam, the board members will receive in advance of the meeting the minutes and "action reports" from both committee meetings and minutes of the public hearing. All board members, therefore, will be exposed to a variety of opinions. I anticipate a fair amount of discussion at the meeting before the community board votes on its recommendation(s) to the City Planning Commission and the School Constrution Authority.

A couple points of clarification:

The CB2 Land Use Committee did not vote 7-6 against the ULURP applications. A motion to approve the project failed to pass when it only had six supporters. That is not the same thing.

Also, the Executive Committee does not vote on matters that are referred to the full board. However, it does review them to ensure that the matter is ready to go. CB2 will vote on the four land use applications and the proposal to site a school at this location, separate matters before separate agencies, at its January 14 monthly meeting.

Would someone just kill me now? (I overheard our end of the telephone conversation and the staffer who gave this advice just completed an updated resource directory of organizations in the district! What for? *sigh*) OP, call the community board office again and ask for me personally.
