Parking and Points

Okay, here's the deal. Buying a new condo in PH. Don't own a car, but have the option to buy some deeded parking. Tempted, insofar as re-sell, but not sure to go through with it since I'll never use it (anti-car), but maybe I can rent it out. The space is outdoor, protected, and costs 20k. And another thing: Trying to decide to decide on how to configure the mortgage...is it dumb to buy points to lower the % rate. Thinking of doing it, but have no experience with this (just herd of it actually). So some advice would be much appreciated.

went for happy hour last night ($2 off everything). they have a great selection of beers that they plan to rotate weekly. this place is going to make a killing this summer because they have a pretty large outdoor space. i love, love, love this place already! i'll probably stop by on the way home again this evening. can't wait!

I still can't get over the fact that these asshat developers chopped down Soda's tree. Now their back patio is a concrete wasteland complete with scaffolding and no flora to be found. That tree had to be around 4 stories high and a hundred years old. Deforestation for some crappy, way-too-tall condo: way to go guys.

Williamsburg needs a place to check email for free...isn't that why Apple stores are swarmed?

The worst part about this is Soda's back garden is ruined.

yup. still waiting to close. btw, the streeteasy numbers aren't quite accurate. several listings were recently pulled by the agent marketing the building in an effort to try something different. i think around 23 are actually in contract. it was actually quite busy at the open house last sunday, which surprised me. anyway, it's a nice building, i just wish we could close already.

Priceless. I know The What still has one of those $14.99 halogen lamps leftover from his college dorm days, but is that a can of Sapporo? Perfectly fishy. Bravo to lechacal for this...

One of my favorite places. The food is really good and reasonable. The staff is fantastic. Stick around after hours when the karaoke machine gets busted out and soju starts flowing...

This is one of Brooklyn's best. They can turn the blah of butternut squash soup into a heavenly nectar. Their brunch isn't great, but dinner is awesome.

setting aside the PH/CrH border issues that are sure to arise, some of the hello buildings are kinda sexy, but the Sydney is just butt-ugly and looks totally out of place.

I miss Bean too, but there's a lot of great mexican under the J/M/Z trains on Broadway... also, I haven't made it out to the Red Hook ball fields yet this year--some of the venders serve up some nice grub.

ProspectHeightsGuy wrote a review about Pequeña on August 8, 2008 12:22 PM

Two words: just okay

There's way better mexican to be had in brooklyn, for sure. (I went to la superior last night, it kicks pequeña's ass.)

The timing of all of this is uncanny. The deadline for those long tax abatements just past, and now developers will have to include a certain percentage of affordable housing. So maybe some of us poor folk will be able to stick around for a little while longer...

How could you leave out Issue Project Room? They used to occupy the silos now know as The Yard before moving to the old american can factory. It's one of the best spots in Gowanus to hear live music...granted, they are negotiating a move to downtown Brooklyn. Easy come easy go.
