Should I Use a Broker
So after attempting to move to an Apt that I could live in for the next couple years and having zero luck finding anything better than I am already in, I have decided to resign my lease for a year and find a place to buy.
My question is should I find a broker to show me listings or should I look on my own and then use the broker who posted the listing?
thanks

Reporting a Realty Company
I don't know if this is best place to do this, but my Girlfriend and I responded to this CL posting last Friday:
http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/abo/1333597140.html
We did not get a email response. Then Saturday night a rapid realty broker called both my GF and myself. We had only responded to this one posting all week. So he tried to tell my girlfriend what APT's he had and she politely let him go.
He called me about a hour later (this sat night at 8pm) and I started pressing him on how he got my number, he said I had called him and left him a message. I told him he was incorrect, I told him I had responded to one CL posting last week, he asked if he had the right number, changing the last digit on my number and saying he must have the wrong number. Then I brought up that he called my girlfriend a hour early and I told he was posting fake listing on CL under "listing by owner". He hung up on me, I tried to call him back twice and he would not answer.
How do you report that Rapid Realty is doing things like this? I have his number but I don't know how to proceed with reporting him.

Too bad it is directly across from the a very busy police station! It is getting to price that is acceptable!

It has a FLW quality too it! Not as nice or sophisticated but not as bad as other buildings that are going up!
Why can these buildings do more for the community I mean would it kill to plant some trees in the burg!

Thank you very much. So far that is the advice I have found that it is best to work with someone but also keeping looking on your own. I was also told:
"Since the commission is a percentage of the sales price normally, the seller's broker and your broker will share it, but the seller pays it, you don't. Make sure you establish that this is the case."
So I guess it even makes more sense to work with someone.

I am also torn between a nice condo or a fixer up house. I want a yard and the income from a rental that a house would provide and something to work on. But I travel a lot so a Condo is good where I don't have to worry as much about it when I am out of town.

At least we know the unemployed are doing with there Fridays!
But if fair is fair, I am going to start parking on the sidewalks, outdoor cafes or in parks and reclaim the space for the Automobile!

People need to go back to Oregon or where ever the else they have come from! This is Brooklyn New York, one the best parts of living in Brooklyn is having a car and driving, I am sick of this anti car sediment in one of the largest cities in the world. I get it, more people bike and take the train than drive, but this is just stupid.

I am Pratt Alumni and I find this plain weird, when the neighborhood was not as good it was open to everyone during the day and closed at night to only students. Pratt has worked hard with the community and the city to improve the area and make better connections with everyone living around the campus. This is not going to help that relationship at all. It is not like the Neighborhood is not banning drunk art students from wandering the streets at night disturbing the peace and vandalizing! I am not saying that Pratt Students are horrible people, but it is college in the middle of the neighborhood, and there always will be the occasional over served Freshmen walking home from the bar being stupid!
I think Pratt should keep the campus open to the community, that has accepted Pratt for the good and the bad that comes out of it!

It was horrible! But I loved it at 3am and they always hooked it up the on Gyro Platter and Taziki Sauce! Oh well as long as it doesn't become a Starbucks, McDonald's or a Bank I am good!

This is how they want people to live in fear of being mugged, not being able to listen to music as you walk! I admit that getting mugged is normally due to someone not paying attention to what's going on around them, but fliers like that make me feel like the muggers are winning, why not pass out fliers that encourage people to be aware but not scare them! I went to Pratt when the neighborhood was a lot worse, and I was never mugged and I lived off campus and was on the streets late at night!

Eaten here twice in the winter, very solid American Fare with a little italian and french flair! Amazing meat dishes! It is a little pricey but it also is a little more upscale than a lot of the slope restaurants
The problem is like Aaron Morris said, it so hard to prove because of the nature of CL. The minute I started pressing him he started making up stories till he just hung up. I knew that the posting was too good to be true, but I figured I would take a shot. I have found APTs like this before for friends.
I just find what rapid realty does is ridiculous and unlawful. I lived in BK long enough that I avoid them and instruct others to as well. I just worry about people that are not as aware of the situation with realty companies like this operating in Brooklyn.

Yeah I have heard horror stories about these guys and there so called "colleagues" and I have general avoid them. I did see one APT they were renting, they showed up 15 minutes late with 4 dudes in backwards baseball hats. Not that I was intimidated but it was very unprofessional they let us into an APT the tenants were not there and after we looked and left they all remained in the APT! It was just weird!
Regardless the fact that they posted a fake listing contacted both me and GF (who had responded to listing separately) and then tried to lie to me about how they got my number and hung up and would not answer when I tried to call back! Very shaded and unprofessionally stuff and it is just surprising how they have been able to go on dealing this way.

Cool. I fish in the lake all the time. I catch more trash than fish usually so I bag it up and dispose of it properly.
It is a great thing this person is doing, but the problem with park especially the lake is that all park user and workers need to be constantly proactive in not littering and cleaning up the park. I am pretty sure there is still a one of those metal bar barriers in the link near duck island!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! Another one of my favorite quick bite places. I liked when it looked like a Mexican cafeteria and I like now. Salted Beef and Tongue Tacos how can you go wrong. Also try the Carnitas platter. It is some of the most authentic Mexican food I have found in NYC! Plus they are open late, deliver late and fast! And you can get a good meal for a good price

hahahahahaha!
Pragonetti wrote a review about Dram Shop on August 3, 2009 2:09 PM
also all the too loud comments it is sports bar not a coffee shop, consider that before you enter! You are not going to write your thesis there.
Pragonetti wrote a review about Dram Shop on August 3, 2009 2:04 PM
I giving place highest marks (not because it rivals Peter Luger's or it is the best restaurant in Brooklyn)...
The first time I went into the Dram Shop it felt too new to me, too much like a Applebees, I could still smell the fresh paint! Now it is staple in my Park Slope Bar Rotation!
The Burgers and wings are awesome. Not the best I ever had, but always consistent I have never had bad food or service there, that is why I rate it sooo high! It is impressive that every time I go I enjoy myself and the food which is all I require from Bar style restaurants! Plus I crave the Fired Macaroni.
But overall the Dram shop is great bar I love Shuffle Board (not ski ball), plus the big TV's make it an ideal place to catch a sporting event! The Big Booths can be challenge to get, but if post up and wait and watch you can normally get one pretty quickly. Or Just share with other people like we have done several times!

ordered from them twice, very good, want to try the Roast Pig Sundays
Pragonetti wrote a review about Atomic Wings on July 22, 2009 1:59 PM
This works as staple for delivery, as a wing delivery place it is good. They are not the best wings but they are good enough to have a franchise. I like the wings the sauces are pretty good, the burgers are good but greasy! This place is everything I would expect it to be for a franchised wing delivery place! There wafer fries are great! For just pure junk food delivered to your door in 20 minutes it is good!
The best wings in the hood are at Bonnies and then Dram Shop! If you are going to go out with the intention of wing go there. I miss brooklyn burger, they made good wings for delivery too!
-Bob as for Cafe de Paris the little coffee shop between smiling pizza and Uncle Louies on 7th is run by the same people.
Hooters wings are some of the best country, but they depend on once the particular franchise. BWW are good for a franchise!

I just wanted to say that everytime I have been there I didnt think the service was slow, I didnt think it was fast either. I thought it great for a nice casual meal with no where to be afterwards and my waiters have always been very nice.
Pragonetti wrote a review about Belleville on July 20, 2009 12:30 PM
always good, best french in the slope! Never too busy so easy to get in, very french on the inside.
Pragonetti wrote a review about City Sub on June 22, 2009 4:50 PM
Great simple Subs with simple fresh ingredients, still not as good as Farmers Deli in Clinton Hill, but when I lived next to them I ate there quite often.
I spent many a long night drinking at the Gardens (before it became vesper). It is too bad a part Pratt history has fallen.

Not BYO, but still great! My GF she doesn't like, but I think it is the best Thai in the hood. There Drunken Noodles are great and there scallion pancakes!
I love Crummy Taco! The flagship store is on 6th ave and Flatbush on the edge of the Slope!

I went there on Sunday night, it was very queit. The service was great, the steaks were cooked correctly and I love Formula 1 so that was cool. If it was in a more centrally located hood it would be very popular.
I promise if that nut pepper sprayed my pup, it would not take me long to be spraying that Pepper down his throat! In study they discovered most serial killers were animal abusers and pepper spraying an over curious dog is abuse.

This place is cool with a huge outdoor space, a back room for bands and art gallery! It could use some plants if that has anything to do with green!
Not sure I care about "green" aspects of it, just happy it is reopening!

For $3 bucks you can get 8 dumplings from any chinese restaurant that will most likely be better than Rickshaw dumplings!

they are also in park slope in Saturdays between 2nd and 1st in front of the Hardware.
