Now... Let me start by saying that my girlfriend and I love the food here. That said, the experience we had there a few months back wasn't trumped by the great food.
We sat in the back of the back (it's super nice) and had finished our meal and were waiting for the check to come. I was facing the kitchen, my girlfriend was facing the back wall. She was telling me a story and out of the corner of my eye, I saw something move on the floor. There was no one else in the garden so it was really quiet. Turned out to be about 5 mice walking around on the floor of the garden. I calmly told her (so she wouldn't freak out) and we walked to the front. We ran into the manager on the way out and told him what we had just seen and that we weren't super upset about it, just a little skeeved. He played really dumb and asked if they were still there. I responded by saying that they didn't seem too worried about being back there. He went back to check, we paid our bill and left. The least he could've done was to offer a discount or something. Unfortunately, we wont be going back.
I realize there are probably creatures all over NYC restaurants. I just think they should have their shit under control enough that said creatures aren't running around while the customers are still there.
Might actually be a good thing that it doesn't scream "high end"
Personally, I'd rather have a moderately priced, genuine spot rather than a mediocre "high end" one (which, unfortunately, seems to be the standard fare in the area)

I was too lazy to make a personal profile on this site... until I saw Zaytoons as the restaurant of the day.
They possibly have the worst service in the city (I've only been to the Myrtle Ave. location) and it's so unfortunate since their food is pretty good and inexpensive.
Read my review on menupages.com - it details my two bad experiences there.
I had ordered delivery there quite frequently... now there is no way I would ever set foot in the place again. There is no need to treat customers like crap when they are supporting you.

Someone please explain the logic behind the ridiculous maintenance fees to me. I am admittedly a renter but find it absurd that people pay so much with little control over what the fees actually go toward (unless I really just don't get it). When I see $1,229 maintenance, the last thing I think of is "reasonable". How far do these fees go each month? Is there any accountability to determine how much is actually being spent on the building and where your dollars are being spent? If not, why are so many people willing to shell out so much extra each month in addition to their mortgage?
