the cops came last night and said something about auxilary coming to get it off. it was still there this morning, so im hoping that when i get home from work today it'll be gone.
im just trying to understand when on a block where ppl are outside all the time no one could have seen it happen.

well that's not exactly high quality graffiti art.. it was probably done in about 2-3 seconds. that's cool that they are sending someone to clean it up as opposed to having to do it yourself.

Call 311 and ask for information on the city's Grafitti Task Force or go to your local representative's office and ask there. I had a similar problem and went to my Senator's office (in Bay Ridge). They told me that the city has a free grafitti removal service. I looked online and found that it is only for certain neighborhoods. We had it taken care of ourselves.

Ummm, I am a graffitiologist with a Master's in Graffiti Studies (MIGS) from City College. Doing some quick graffiti forensics, it seems to me that you need look no further than your local Girl Scout troop to find the culprit of this proud act of vandalism. You see, "Smor" is a contraction of "S'more", which is itself a contraction of "Some More" which is the general response one has upon eating a "S'more," which is the unofficial snack of the Girl Scouts.
From Wikipedia:
"While the origin of this popular campfire dessert is unclear, the first recorded version of the recipe can be found in the Girl Scout Handbook of 1927.[4]"
You may want to bait the area with marshmallow and graham crackers. Do it now, because these are some hardcore folk you are dealing with, and if not, they may be back to carol your house during the holidays. ; )

Sorry this happened to you. Our house was tagged a couple of months ago. Idiot came through the side gate and used latex house paint to make a lame tag of the word "Abel." He also hit the side of the liquor store and pool hall on 7th near Flatbush and the street planter of the across-the-street neighbor. The police were extremely blase about the whole thing and didn't even want to make a report. I also contacted the City's graffiti task force but it didn't seem like they would come soon (so far they haven't yet painted over the neighbor's planter). We did get follow up from the "graffitti specialist" at the 6th Ave. precinct and my on line research showed that "Abel" was a well known 70's west coast graffitier. The real Abel subesequntly changed his name due to low quality work by imitators and now markets custom sneakers.
Smor, which mean's "butter" in Swedish seems to refer to famous Berlin based graffitti artist. Again a pale imitation.

Someone did similar to my stoop.
Called precinct (76th) and they came by - took pictures and reported to city grafitti removal. City came by about a month later and cleaned it off.
