Plumber for Sprinkler Inspection
Can anyone recommend a reliable plumber that can set up a sprinkler inspection for me? Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Zoning Lawyer Needed
I just learned that a developer is looking to rezone my block in order to build their project. This is particularly upsetting since my neighbors and I worked hard to get it rezoned just about 2 years ago. Does anyone have any good referrals or have experience with a similar issue?

Additional Info Needed
Is anyone familiar with BNR Health care Network? I just learned that this company is interested in building a healthcare facility on my block - Lefferts Place between Grand & Classon Aves. Does anyone have more information on this? If you are resident in this area and are also interested about getting more information - there is a block association meeting this evening at the Fulton Senior Citizen Center on Fulton Ave - bt St. James and Grand - tonight at 6pm.

Plumber Problem
I had a plumber come in and install a radiator in 2 seperate apartments that are located one on top of the other. The apartment on the lower floor was getting heat while the radiator on the upper floor was not. I called a second plumber to take a look at the situation and he notified me that the radiator was incorrectly installed. Other than taking the first plumber to Small Claims Court, what other recourse do I have against the first plumber? Can I make a claim against his insurance? If so, how do I do this?

furnished rooms=SRO. Trust me - I know! If the buyer gets an affidavit that states there were no tenants in the past 3 years - the Certificate of Non-Harassment can be expedited. This is a great deal for someone who has money and patience.

Polemicist - again non-profit does not mean not profitable. Non-profit developers DO make a profit. Go on www.guidestar.org and you can look up the salaries of top executives of a multitude of non-profits - even CNR. This is America! These guys would not be this aggressive with this project if it was not lucrative for them. We have to stop laying down and let big corps do what they want with our communities. Then when our communities start to go in decline - we wonder "what happened!" This is a democracy. We decided wanted we want for our community - which was supported and endorsed by all of our political representatives - so why are should we let someone who is looking to turn a profit just come and undo what we worked hard to implement. I don't think this is unreasonable.

First off - the people on Lefferts Place that disagree with the proposed development are not a bunch of NIMBYs since we already have an affordable complex on our block - which by the way started out as affordable housing for low income seniors. Currently it is not one.
Secondly - the zoning change that they are proposing does not bring the zoning back to what it was pre-2007. It is essentially zoning a very residential and historic block to the same zoning designation as Atlantic, Fulton and Myrtle Aves!!! This does not make sense.
Lastly - Atlantic, Fulton and Myrtle were rezoned specifically to support projects like these. In fact affordable complexes are going up all over Atlantic Ave. There are still many empty lots on those streets. Why should Lefferts Place be singled out from the 85 blocks in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill that just got their streets re-zoned to R6B. It doesn't make sense!

Thanks for the reply. So far I know of one CB leader that is in favor of it which doesn't make sense since they were the ones pushing for the initial zoning to begin with!

I say congrats to the new owners!! You bought an awesome house! And to the haters "don't hate the player - hate the game!"

I bought the Bosch ventless for my rentals and they work fine. No complaints.

I just got him to come back today. He seems to disagree with the 2nd plumber's assesment as to the source of the problem. But I am giving him a chance to correct it his way - if he doesn't fix the problem he will have to pay for the 2nd plumber's cost.

So what CMU?? It's a free country. Get over yourself and complain about something that really matters. Not whine about why someone else chose to expand their house on an adjacent lot.

What's up with all of the negative mean-spirited commentary??? The owners' designed and decorated their house to their liking not anyone else's. This is why I stopped writing on this blog - too many haters. Instead of helping each other and creating a helpful on-line community, too many people find pleasure in bringing people down and tearing each other to shreds. I don't get it???
And no - I am not the owner, the architect nor the interior designer. Just diassapointed!

Hi, I used them to remake mouldings for different parts of my house and thought they were pretty good. I dealt mostly with Amor - who seems to know what he is doing. Good luck!

Tart, I totally agree with you. The food is good but way over-priced!

We are also thinking of replacing a venting dryer with a ventless one (so we can move it to a closet). Do they take a lot longer to dry clothes??

I bought a house thinking the same thing. At the end of the day it was (as I went through the process of changing the CofO to a non-SRO) a SRO. Call HPD - they will tell you the same thing.
