Where to buy a dishwasher?
I'm wondering where is a good place to buy a dishwasher (I'm looking for something energy efficient and middle of the road). In our last apartment we bought a stove from "Big Daddy's" (yes, that's really the name) on Flatbush Avenue but weren't really happy with their customer service. What appliance stores are even out there? I searched archives but didn't find an answer. Thanks!

I had a different experience with VF. Hired them (back in 2003) to redo the floors in our one-bedroom and they did a great job -- even did the floors in a small closet that they could have forgotten about. (We weren't living there at the time and the super let them in for us, so we thought it was professional of them to do the closet without being observed!) A couple years ago we considered replacing the floors in our brownstone duplex and had them out for a consultation. We were concerned that modern wood floors wouldn't match the look of our house so we decided not to make the change, but they will give a free estimate, so I'd suggest meeting with them and seeing what you think.

They'll do a decent job but they have an interesting business model... they'll bring in different levels of labors for each step of the job. The first level won't speak English...

I used VF to refinish my mom's apartment, they were rude, not professional and paid little to no attention to detail. We were treated like a product on a conveyor belt, they wanted to be out of the house ASAP no matter how the job looked.
I used Carlos Wood Flooring for my Brownstone renovation in 2006. Totally different experience. Carlos is very detailed oriented, humble and customer service oriented - maybe it's because it's his own business but the guy and his team is top notch. His contact info is below....

I also had a bad experience with VF. The end product was satisfactory, but they were not very friendly, caused their own delays, started staining the floor a color I didn't agree to. In the end I held back $400 because of damages and cost of delays.

I recently got a quote from Carlos. I thought it was a little high, but I really liked his energy. I'm also got a quote from 1800 flooring. They sounded extra professional and their price came in below ANYONE.
Has anyone had any experience with either?

As per the suggestion of my carpenter I am now in the process of duplicating the original parquet floors throughout my first floor with 9x9" tile which are separated in 4 pces. of 2 1/4 red oak all at a 45 degree angle with 2 strips of mahogony boarders with 3 strips of red oak. What a wonderful job their doing. I recommend Cronin Hard Wood Flooring. There located in Hackensack, N.J. I reside in Park Slope.

We used them in our co-op and they were terrible. Very careless. They sanded down the wood too deep and put on the poly without adequately cleaning the floor. There was dirt, Hair and paint embedded in the floor. It was so bad-they came back and did it again--it looked better but def. not worth the money. My advice is to stay away from them. Check out Summit--they did the floors in our brownstone and were good.

I recently (a month ago) used VF to refinish parquette floors in my apt. They said they could do the job, then after the floors were sanded, told me that the wood was too thin, and that the wood tiles would probably break apart in about 6 months. They agreed to finish the job without giving their standard warranty and ended up knocking off about $500. They also had to put down the polyeutherane multiple times because half the floor had a matte finish and the other half was glossy. They just left the floor like that and I discovered it on my own and had to call them back to redo the job. Overall, I did not have a positive experience with them.

We recently used Verrazano Flooring and had an excellent experience. The workers were extremely professional as were their office staff. They came when they said they would and were on time. Their price was very competitive and the floors look better than ever. We would definitely use them again. I recommend them highly.
