Food's decent. Good oysters, wings, bar food in general. Entrees don't really appeal to me. Chill place, good beer.

Really great food. Very well done.
KHuebbe wrote a review about Atomic Wings on July 22, 2009 12:37 PM
Hot diggity, I love wings. These aren't the best, but they'll do in a pinch and are better than A LOT of other places. And they're not breaded, which is great. They're about 20 for $14, which isn't great for price though.
+1 on FIND. Great spot.

Great jerk. And right off the train. They're not always so friendly when I order, but, well, who cares?
I second Chavella's. That place is fantastic.

An explosion? I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact there are cops with rifles stationed around Cadman Plaza this morning.

The Starlite was an old neighborhood "non discriminating" bar. And a lot of fun. Karaoke on Thursdays, $4 beer, and fun people. Too bad.

KHuebbe wrote a review about Gen on March 23, 2009 4:57 PM
This place is excellent. I've only ever ordered delivery, but it comes quick, the sushi is fresh and priced well, and they have hijiki (which I love).
"Plus the idea that any of this is different 'by neighborhood' (or majority population) is just ridiculous"
How is this ridiculous? There's proof of that everywhere!

dirty_hipster - use New Bell. Cheap and reliable. I used to use Arecibo but they blacklisted me after I forgot to go outside for my cab a couple times when I was dru- tired.

KHuebbe wrote a review about Abigail Cafe & Wine Bar on March 12, 2009 1:07 PM
I went for brunch with my lady and her parents, and even though I hate brunch, this place was great. The portions were somewhat small but there's always too much food at brunch anyway. The food was GREAT and the jazz musicians were fantastic.
Almost 2 mil for an apt at the Bisney View on 4th Ave in Brooklyn? I'll take it! Who wouldn't?

unfortunately, i agree with Somedude. The place just wasn't up to snuff. they'd been struggling for a long time.

KHuebbe wrote a review about Tacos Matamoros on February 24, 2009 3:45 PM
Been here a bunch. This place is excellent! Try their pastor tacos, their horchata. I agree with Brenda, the horchata is the best I've had. Light, creamy, none of that chalkiness often associated with it.
Great place on the weekends when it's busy, music is playing, and you're walking around Sunset Park.
Thanks for choosing such a great restaurant!
6 bedrooms below a million? Should be fine.

This place is great. Last time I went in, I told them their restaurant was very popular with people all over the city. The woman blushed and told all the other workers, who smiled. Meatball is the way to go.
haha "beating around the bush". Leave the sex shops where they are. Seriously.

That's exactly what you should do, not crass at all. Also look on Craiglist, many of the higher end neighborhoods (like the Heights) have buildings in which a broker works for the landlord instead of the tenant.

Actually, if you found someone immediately, you might've priced a little low. There is a HUGE demand for small office space in downtown brooklyn.

KHuebbe wrote a review about Tavern on Dean on January 16, 2009 1:35 PM
This place could be so great. It's got the kind of food you don't actually see in NY much - comfy, homey good food. This place isn't fancy. But it's also not consistent and that just kills it for me. Also, service can be spotty. Bit overpriced, too in my opinion, although I know restaurant overhead is through the roof these days, so that may be unfair.
Right now at the top floor is a criminal law attorney.

There isn't really a lack of public transportation - the 36th st N, D, R, M is a block and a half away (although I admit the BQE doesn't entice people across to the waterfront) - and yes, these buildings are going to stay manufacturing/commercial for a long time.

I think FInd is great as well. Worth noting is that they were 20% off everything last month and yesterday it was 30% off. So while the original prices didn't keep them on our short list, now we're reconsidering some things.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Baxter & Liebchen [http://www.baxterliebchen.com]in DUMBO. Great mid-century [Danish primarily] furniture at not exactly cheap but reasonable prices. Unfortunately, the ABC Carpet store [also in DUMBO] is defunct!! There's a DWR on Montague in the Heights though I don't quite know "who's reach the designs are within"!! Haven't been on Atlantic for awhile but there "used to be" quite a few antique shops btwn 4th Ave. & Court Street. There's IKEA, of course. Also worth a mention are the Ft. Greene flea market @ Lafayette & Vanderbilt [on Saturdays] and the Brooklyn Flea Market under the Brooklyn Bridge [on Sundays].

Yllebdael said: "Nova Zembla sucks. Bought a custom made piece from them. It was delivered damaged. A big chunk came out from one of the legs. The owner would not give a discount. He's a stupid man. Zero idea how to treat customers and a complete moron. Buyer beware."
I went to Nova Zembla for the first time as a result of this thread and am compelled to offset this. We saw great stuff, bought several right then and there, special ordered another (with legs moved to accommodate our vents) and had a first class experience. Delivery (that day) was inexpensive, especially considering it was three large HEAVY rosewood pieces up three flights, and done with extreme care and professionalism. Everything is high quality but not expensive. We are thrilled to have been able to get so much stuff made for urban spaces rather than suburban houses. We spent an inordinate amount of time in the store making decisions and were treated extremely well the entire time. I especially appreciated that the owner gave us all information and zero sales shtick. I know that if we hit an issue he'll deal with it to our satisfaction. I've hit countless furniture places this month and the only two that spoke to me were Sterling Place and Nova Zembla.
I will return and recommend highly.

Ditmas Park is a great neighborhood. My favorite bar in Brooklyn was located right next to the Cortelyou Q train entrance. It closed down a few years ago.
