10:35 AM - Can we be horrified by genocide, war, etc AND be unhappy that our tax dollars are being used to make one person very rich while potentially destroying a community? Don't you think the human mind has the capacity to think that this development is being done all wrong and, at the same time, agree that the world has bigger problems to worry about.

I love that Boerum Hill federal. A house does not have to be made of brick and covered in brownstone to have character.

I don't know, it is not pretty, but it is good for the neighborhood and the city that non-investment bankers, lawyers and trust fund babies will be able to afford a home in this city.

Red Oak is beautiful as a floor. I put 3" rift cut in my brownstone. If I had the extra money, I would have done the quatersawn - it is striking. Go as wide as you can, it makes the room look bigger, but it does cost more. Good luck!

It is actually a real plus of the AY project that many housing units will be used for families making $75,000 to $100,000. Think about it: a teacher married to a firefighter is not what we think about when we think of rich people, but they will make about $75,000 to $100,000 (if not more)combined. THEY are the exact people that can't afford to live in NYC and they are the people we most desperately need to stay. The ultra rich can take care of themselves and there are city, state, and federal programs to help the very poor. The city will be in trouble if all that is left living in the city is the very rich and the very poor.
