According to google maps it is .5 miles to the F -- that's a 10 minute walk. Not too bad. On the F about 45 minutes to Rockefeller center, with at least one guaranteed 1 hour plus monster ever week. FWIW, I put 599K in the widget but now I think that may be too generous. I know a guy that bought a decent sized house with a rental unit on Prospect Park SW for slightly over a million (in 2007), so 630K to me seems aspirational.

I lived at 9th and PPW for a couple years -- killing a lane on PPW is going to create an absolute clusterfuck during the summer.

Try again DH.
Don't live in Park slope, don't own a tennis racket.
Those are also facts, BTW.

DH, Dittoburg -- Do you think there is more of an interest in tennis in Greenpoint or Park Slope? The answer is Park Slope. That is called a fact.
Tennis courts are always packed no matter where they are. So are golf courses. That's because relative to the amount of space they take up, less people can use them per unit of time. That is also called a fact.
That concrete ballfield is pretty heavily used. Another fact.
I think Mr. B is elitist. That's an opinion.

"They might not realize, however, that the entire area was originally devoted exclusively to tennis once upon a time."
How is this relevant? Once upon a time sheep grazed where Central Park is today and dinosaurs roamed the earth -- things change.
I drive by there sometimes and I've seen people playing "concrete softball" lots of times. I really couldn't care less what they do with this area, don't live near there, but when your inherent knee-jerk elitism comes out it really is pretty damned annoying.
For another thing, I can't imagine that the appetite for tennis in Greenpoint/Williamsburg is quite on the same level as Park Slope.

Sure, DH -- but only if you put 20% down.

Snappy, based on the articles is sounds like the contractor who was removing the stuff from the house owed the rubbish removal guys money, so instead of hauling the garbage away, they justed dumped it out. We all know how the "waste management" industry can be.

No, I have not read the opinions, and I don't care to. I also did not write a potentially misleading piece of populist nonsense in a large national newspaper.

The article says that the judge has rejected 46 of the 102 foreclosure motions that have come before him in the last two years. Because this article is a blowjob piece and not real journalism, the author did not actually read these decisions to see whether the judge was being tough but fair in holding the mortgage companies to the letter of the law, or if he was just pushing his own agenda. I strongly suspect he was pushing his own agenda. No matter how you feel about "predatory" lending or big corporations in general, it is not a judge's business to make policy decisions.
It's been dropped for a while, but the idea that any legal document will be 100% correct is an absolute fantasy. Does signing in the wrong place really justify letting somebody keep hundreds of thousands of dollars without having to pay it back? Think about that one.

"These are in fact, laws, which we all have to abide by ..."
Let me see if I get this, you had the zoning changed in 2007, they want to change it again in 2009.
By your own logic, wasn't the pre-2007 zoning also "the law" which "we all have to abide by?"
So basically what I'm getting is that when you want to change the rules to suit you, it's OK to change them, but if you don't like a change that somebody else is proposing, then whatever happens to be the rule at the time is "the law" which is immutable?
I have no dog in this fight, but I want you to see that your argument sucks.

Agree with 11217 -- went there about a year ago because my wife wanted to, place was completely empty and was thoroughly unimpressed with the food. Way too expensive for what you got.

Dog owners should be responsible -- of course. People also need to chill out. Sometimes you have to tolerate something even if you don't like it. If there's no one around, I sometimes let my dog off leash "off hours". I don't see what the big deal is. Sometimes little kids come over, pet my dog, throw the ball -- it's fun stuff.
... and if someone even tried to use pepper spray on my dog, I would absolutely kick their fucking ass in.
